161

जनसंबोधनं कुर्याद् यथाकार्यगुणादिकम्।

संवर्धयेत् तदुत्साहं यथाशक्ति सुकर्मसु॥१६१॥

વ્યક્તિના ગુણ તથા કાર્ય આદિને અનુસારે તેનું સંબોધન કરવું. યથાશક્તિ તેને સારાં કાર્યોમાં પ્રોત્સાહન આપવું. (૧૬૧)

One should address each individual according to their virtues, achievements and other merits. One should encourage them in noble works according to their abilities. (161)

सत्यां वदेद् हितां चैव वदेद् वाणीं प्रियां तथा।

मिथ्याऽऽरोप्योऽपवादो न कस्मिंश्चित् कर्हिचिज्जने॥१६२॥

સત્ય, હિત અને પ્રિય વાણી બોલવી. કોઈ મનુષ્યની ઉપર ક્યારેય મિથ્યા અપવાદનું આરોપણ ન કરવું. (૧૬૨)

One should speak words which are true, beneficial and loving. One should never falsely accuse any individual. (162)

न वदेत् कुत्सितां वाचम् अपशब्दकलङ्किताम्।

श्रोतृदुःखकरीं निन्द्यां कठोरां द्वेषगर्भिणीम्॥१६३॥

અપશબ્દોથી યુક્ત, સાંભળનારને દુઃખ કરે તેવી, નિંદ્ય, કઠોર અને દ્વેષ ભરેલી કુત્સિત વાણી ન બોલવી. (૧૬૩)

One should never utter unpleasant speech that is offensive, hurts its listener and is defamatory, harsh or hateful. (163)

असत्यं न वदेत् क्वापि वदेत् सत्यं हिताऽऽवहम्।

सत्यमपि वदेन्नैव यत् स्यादन्याऽहिताऽऽवहम्॥१६४॥

અસત્ય ક્યારેય ન બોલવું. હિત કરે તેવું સત્ય બોલવું. અન્યનું અહિત કરે તેવું સત્ય પણ ન બોલવું. (૧૬૪)

One should never speak untruth. One should express truth that is beneficial, but not utter even truth that may harm others. (164)

अन्याऽवगुणदोषादिवार्तां कदाऽपि नोच्चरेत्।

तथाकृते त्वशान्तिः स्याद् अप्रीतिश्च हरेर्गुरोः॥१६५॥

ક્યારેય કોઈના અવગુણ કે દોષની વાત ન કરવી. એમ કરવાથી અશાંતિ થાય અને ભગવાન તથા ગુરુનો કુરાજીપો થાય. (૧૬૫)

One should never speak of another’s drawbacks or flaws. Doing so causes unrest and results in the displeasure of Bhagwan and the guru. (165)
