ઇતિહાસ
(૧) મારા વા’લાજી શું વા’લપ દીસે રે
સ્વામિનારાયણ સંપ્રદાયનાં શાસ્ત્રોમાં મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીનું જીવન ચરિત્ર પ્રખ્યાત છે. રામાનંદ સ્વામીના યોગમાં આવ્યા પછી તેઓ મુકુંદદાસમાંથી મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી બન્યા. મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીની મૃદુતા, નમ્રતા, ક્ષમાશીલતા, સર્વને દિવ્ય દૃષ્ટિથી જોવાનો સ્વભાવ, વગેરે સદ્ગુણોને કારણે તેઓ ‘સત્સંગની મા’ તરીકે ઓળખાતા.
એક વખત તેઓના મંડળના એક હિન્દુસ્તાની સાધુના સત્સંગ વિરુદ્ધ વર્તનથી દુઃખ પામીને અભાવ આવી યગો. તેઓને મંડળમાંથી કાઢી નાખવાના વિચારો પણ આવ્યા. સર્વાંતર્યામી મહારાજથી શું અજાણ્યું હોય. મહારાજે વિચાર્યું કે પ્રત્યક્ષ પ્રમાણ એવા પોતાના સંબંધે કરીને સર્વને દિવ્ય દૃષ્ટિથી જ જોવા જોઈએ. જો ધર્મ લોપ થતો હોય તો ચેતવીને ખરે માર્ગે વાળવા જોઈએ. જો ફરી ફરી ધર્મ લોપ થતો જાય તો જ કાઢી મૂકવા. આવા વિચારે શ્રીજી મહારાજે મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીને ધ્રાંગધ્રામાં રામમહોલ આશ્રમમાં સંસ્કૃત ભણવા મુક્તમુનિને આજ્ઞા કરી.
મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીને તો રામમહોલનો પૂર્વ પરિચય હતો જ, કારણ કે તેઓ સાચા ગુરુની શોધમાં નિકળ્યા હતા ત્યારે આ આશ્રમમાં ઉતરેલા. તેથી તેઓ જાણતા હતા કે અહીંના સંન્યાસી-બાવાનું વર્તન શુદ્ધ સત્સંગના નિયમ-ધર્મથી વિરુદ્ધ છે.
સ્વામીએ અહીં ૭-૮ દિવસ રોકાયા બાદ ત્રાસ પામીને અફસોસ થયો કે જે સાધુનો અભાવ આવ્યો હતો તે ખોટો હતો. તે સાધુના વર્તન કરતાં અહીંના આશ્રમના સાધુઓનું વર્તન અતિશય અપવિત્ર છે. આ વિચાર કરતાં તેમણે એક કાવ્ય રચિને એક હરિભક્ત દ્વારા મહારાજને ગઢડા પહોંચાડવા કહ્યું. મહારાજે આ પદ વાંચીને અતિ ભાવભીના થઈ ગયા. તાત્કાલીક મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીને પાછા બોલાવી લીધા.
History
(1) Mārā vā’lājī shu vā’lap dīse re
In the scriptures of the Swaminarayan Sampraday, the story of Mukunddas is well-known. He had renounced his home and joined Ramanand Swami as one of his senior sadhus. Because of his pure heart, gentle and forgiving nature, and humbleness, he became known as satsangni mā - “the mother of satsang”.
Once, within his group of sadhus, a Hindustani sadhu crossed the disciplinary boundaries. Muktanand Swami became disheartened and harbored some ill feelings towards him. He also thought of expelling him from the group so that he would not be a distraction to others.
However, can anyone hide their thoughts from Maharaj? Maharaj thought: A sadhus should not bear ill feeling towards other sadhus. Rather than expelling the sadhu, one should attempt to set the sadhu on the right course. If, after several attempts, he does not correct his self, then one can take appropriate action. So, Maharaj ordered Muktanand Swami to go to Dhrangadhra and join the “Ram-mahol” āshram to study Sanskrit. Before Muktanand Swami became a sadhu, he had already gone to “Ram-mahol” while in search of a guru. He was aware the wayward ascetics of the āshram did not follow the five religious vows of sadhus.
After about seven to eight days, Swami became frustrated by their improper conduct. He longed for the company of true sadhus. He realized his mistake of thinking ill of the sadhu in his group and appreciated the reason why Maharaj had sent him here. Upon thinking what Maharaj said, Muktanand Swami composed a kirtan in his heart. He wrote it on a paper and sent it via a devotee to Maharaj in Gadhada. Maharaj became quite emotional after reading the kirtan and immediately sent a messenger to bring Muktanand Swami back to Gadhada.
