ઇતિહાસ
(૧) આજ અનુપમ દિવસ સખી રી વસંતપંચમી આઈ
વિ. સં. ૧૮૬૨, મહા સુદ ૫. ગઢપુરમાં વસંત પંચમીના મંગલ દિનના પ્રભાતનું વાતાવરણ વસંત ઋતુના આગમનથી ખીલી ઊઠ્યું હતું. સંતો અને હરિભક્તો પ્રાતઃકાળમાં વહેલા ઊઠી દાદા ખાચરના દરબારમાં વસંતનો ઉત્સવ ઊજવવા વિવિધ સેવાઓમાં પરોવાઈ ગયા હતા. શ્રીહરિ સમક્ષ તેમની ભક્તિ અદા કરવા સુંદર સુમધુર ફૂલોથી ટોપલે ટોપલાં ભરતા હતા. અમુક સંતો વસંતનાં કીર્તનો રચતા હતા.
મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી પ્રભાતમાં ધ્યાન કરી રહ્યા હતા. આ અવસરની મધુર સુવાસ તેમના ઉતારામાં પહોંચી અને તેમનું ધ્યાન તૂટ્યું. અચાનક યાદ આવ્યું કે મહારાજે આગલ્યા દિવસે વસંત ઊજવવા ફૂલો મગાવ્યાં હતાં. બધા સંતો અને હરિભક્તોને સેવા કરતા જોઈ મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીને પણ અંતરમાં આ સેવામાં જોડાવાની ઇચ્છા થઈ. પરંતુ સત્સંગની મા સમાન અને સદ્ગુરુ હોવાને કારણે કોણ તેમને આવી સેવામાં જોડાવા દે? સ્વામી આ વિચારમાં ખોવાઈ ગયા.
આ વિચારમાં જ સ્વામીનું હૃદય ભાવભીનું થઈ ગયું અને શબ્દ ઊભરાઈ આવ્યા. ઝાડનાં લીલાં પલ્લવ પાંદળાં, પંખીઓનાં કીલ કીલ કલરવથી વાતાવરણ, આવાં દૃશ્યો નિહાળી સ્વામી ગાવા લાગ્યા, જે આ કીર્તનરૂપે શબ્દો માનવા મળે છે.
History
(1) Āj anupam divas sakhī rī Vasant Panchamī āī
In Vikram Samvat 1862, on the 5th day of the bright half of the month of Mahā (Vasant Panchmi), the atmosphere was marked with auspiciousness and beauty as the spring season arrived. Sadhus and devotees gathered at Dada Khachar’s darbar in the early hours of the day. To show their devotion toward Shri Hari and to welcome Him in the early morning, they were preparing a fragrant basket filled with different types of flowers e.g. jasmine, roses, carnations, etc. Some sadhus composed kirtans to sing to Shri Hari.
Meanwhile, Muktanand Swami had been in meditation for the first hours of the morning. The fragrance from the flowers reached the Muktanand Swami’s residence and his meditation broke. He remembered that on the day before, Shriji Maharaj had ordered flowers for the festival of spring which was to be celebrated with joy. Therefore, all these sadhus had awakened early to prepare for the celebration. Swami thought he should also join in the preparation. But a thought crossed his mind that if he asked to help them, no one will allow him to do so because of his seniority! What should he do? Swami went into a whirlpool of deep thought! His mind then lost itself in wanting to do service.
After a while, Swami’s thoughts became very sentimental and words started pouring out as waves. Seeing the newly sprouted tree leaves and the soft, melodious chirping of the excited birds overjoyed for the coming of the spring, Swami’s mind also became thrilled. In a descriptive manner, Swami started singing what he saw, the words that are presented in this kirtan.
