કીર્તન મુક્તાવલી
ઇતિહાસ
(૧) ભજો ભાવશું અખંડ જપમાળા રે
મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી રચિત આ કીર્તનનો ઉલ્લેખ સદ્ગુરુ અક્ષરાનંદ સ્વામીની વાતોમાં છે. આ જાણીતો પ્રસંગ સ્વામિનારાયણ સંપ્રદાયમાં પ્રસિદ્ધ છે. આ કીર્તનમાં મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી કેવી રીતે મહારાજની મૂર્તિ ધારી ધારીને પચાસ માળા ફેરવતા, તેનું વર્ણન આવે છે.
એક વખત મહારાજે સભામાં સૌ સંતને પૂછ્યું જે, “તમો કેટલી માળા ફેરવો છો?”
કેટલાકે કહ્યું જે, “મહારાજ! હું પાંચસો ફેરવું છું.” કોઈ કહે, “હું હજાર ફેરવું છું.”
મહારાજ કહે, “શી રીતે ફેરવો છો?”
કેટલાકે કહ્યું કે, “મહારાજ! માળા ફેરવવા માટે બેરખા રાખ્યા છે.”
પછી મહારાજે મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીને કહ્યું જે, “સ્વામી! તમો કેટલી માળા ફેરવો છો?”
સ્વામી કહે, “મહારાજ! હું પચાસ માળા ફેરવું છું.”
મહારાજ કહે, “શી રીતે?”
સ્વામી કહે, “તમારા અંગ ધારીને. તેમાં જો બીજો સંકલ્પ થાય તે માળા ખોટી પડે.”
મહારાજ કહે, “આની આગળ હજારે કાંઈ નહીં. ને પાંચસે એ કાંઈ નહીં.”
પછી સૌ સંત સમજી ગયા કે, મહારાજના અંગ ધારીને માળા ફેરવવી. તે ઉપર મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીએ કીર્તન કર્યા છે જે:
‘ભજો ભાવ શું અખંડ જપ માળા રે,
માળા ટાળે છે મન કેરા ચાળા રે,
હરિનું એક એક અંગ ઉર ધારો રે’

History
(1) Bhajo bhāvashu akhanḍ jap-māḷā re
Muktanand Swami wrote this kirtan, which is mentioned by Sadguru Aksharanand Swami. This is a well-known incident in the Swaminarayan sampraday, and this kirtan described how Muktanand Swami turned the mala while contemplating on the murti of Maharaj.
Once, Maharaj asked all the sadhus, “How many malas do you turn daily?”
Some said, “Maharaj, I turn 500 malas.” Another said, “I turn 1,000.”
Then, Maharaj asked, “How do you turn the malas?”
“Maharaj, we use a berkho to turn the malas.”
Then, Maharaj asked Muktanand Swami. Swami said, “Maharaj, I turn 50 malas.”
“In what manner?”
“I remember each part of your murti whilst doing mala. If I have any other thoughts, then I start that mala over again.”
Maharaj exclaimed, “Even a thousand malas do not compare to the way Muktanand Swami turned the mala.”
The sadhus understood that mala should be turned whilst remember the form of God. Muktanand Swami wrote this kirtan from this incident.
