(૧) શ્રી સારંગપુરની શોભા સજી અતિ સારી
સારંગપુરમાં મંદિર કરવાનો સંકલ્પ
શાસ્ત્રીજી મહારાજ શ્રીજીના મહાપ્રસાદી સ્થાન બોચાસણમાં અક્ષરપુરુષોત્તમનું મંદિર ત્વરિત ગતિથી તૈયાર કરી રહ્યા હતા. ગઢડાના કોઠારી ભીમજીભાઈને પોતાની નજર સામે જ શાસ્ત્રીજી મહારાજની પ્રતિષ્ઠા વધતી જતી હતી અને મંદિર બાંધી રહ્યા હતા, તેથી કોઠારી ભીમજીભાઈએ, કોઠારી ગોવર્ધનભાઈ ઉપર ઠપકાનો પત્ર લખ્યો કે: “તમે ગુજરાતના વાણિયા, દાળ-ભાત ખાનારા, તે તમારી નજર સામે યજ્ઞપુરુષદાસે ગુજરાતમાં મંદિર કરી દીધું અને તમે કાંઈ કરી શક્યા નહિ; પણ જો કાઠિયાવાડમાં આવે તો તેને કાઠિયાવાડના ખમીરની ખબર પડે.”
સ્વામીશ્રી તો શ્રીજીમહારાજના સંકલ્પ પ્રમાણે મહારાજ અને સ્વામીની મૂર્તિઓ મધ્ય મંદિરમાં પધરાવવી હતી, પરંતુ માન-મોટપ અથવા બીજાને બતાવી દેવા પગલાં ભરી રહ્યા ન હતા. સંકલ્પમાત્રે અનેક મંદિરો ભૂગર્ભમાંથી પ્રગટ કરવાનું શ્રીજીપ્રેરિત ઐશ્વર્ય સ્વામીશ્રીમાં હતું. છતાં એ ઐશ્વર્ય દબાવી, જનહિતાર્થ સામાન્ય મનુષ્યની જેમ જ પોતે સદા વર્તતા અને પ્રવૃત્તિ કરતા. તેમની પ્રવૃત્તિના અંતે પૂરું થયેલું કાર્ય જ્યારે સૌ જોતાં ત્યારે વિસ્મિત બની સૌ કહેતા કે, “આ તો સંકલ્પમાત્રે પૃથ્વીના પેટાળમાંથી નીકળ્યું હોય એવું મંદિર છે. બાકી મનુષ્યની શક્તિ નથી કે ઝોળીના બળ ઉપર આવાં મંદિરો થાય.”
સ્વામીશ્રીની આવી અલૌકિક રીતને પિછાણનાર સારંગપુરના હરિભક્તોએ, સ્વામીશ્રીને સારંગપુરમાં બોલાવી, સારંગપુરમાં મંદિર કરાવવાનો સંકલ્પ કર્યો. સારંગપુરના ભીમા શેઠ, નાગજી શેઠ, ઓઘડખાચર વગેરેનાં આમંત્રણથી, સ્વામીશ્રી સંવત ૧૯૬૬ના અંતમાં સારંગપુર પધાર્યા. સાથે ગુજરાતના કેટલાક હરિભક્તોમાં, મુખ્યત્વે આણંદના મોતીભાઈ ભગવાનદાસ હતા.
સ્વામીશ્રી બે-ત્રણ દિવસ અત્રે ઓઘડખાચરના દરબારમાં રહ્યા. આખા સારંગપુરને સ્વામીશ્રી વિશે અત્યંત ભાવ હતો. એટલે રોજ સ્વામીશ્રી પાસે સૌ તેમની દિવ્ય વાતો સાંભળવા આવતા.
એક દિવસ મોટા કુંડે નાહવા જતાં, હાલ જ્યાં મંદિર છે, તે જગ્યા આગળ સ્વામીશ્રી ઊભા રહ્યા. સાથે એક સંત અને મોતીભાઈ હતા. સ્વામીશ્રીએ મોતીભાઈને કહ્યું, “મોતીભાઈ! શ્રીજીમહારાજે આ જગ્યાએ રોઝો ઘોડો કુંડાળે નાખ્યો હતો અને કહ્યું હતું, ‘અમે આજ મોટા મંદિરનું ખાત કરીએ છીએ.’ એટલે અહીં મંદિર જરૂર થશે.” એમ કહી નાહીને પાછા ઉતારે પધાર્યા.
ઉતારે આવ્યા પછી ફરીથી સ્વામીશ્રીએ મોતીભાઈને કહ્યું, “મોતીભાઈ! સારંગપુરમાં મંદિર કરવું છે તેનું કીર્તન બનાવો.”
મોતીભાઈ તો સ્વામીશ્રીની આ વાતથી સ્થંભી ગયા. સારંગપુરમાં મંદિર! હજુ બોચાસણનું મંદિર તો પૂરું થયું નથી, વળી પૈસા તો કોઠારમાં દેખાતા જ નથી, છતાં સ્વામીશ્રી આવા સંકલ્પ કરે છે! તેમને કાંઈ સમજણ ન પડી. સ્વામીશ્રીએ તેમના તરફ દૃષ્ટિ કરી, ફક્ત એક જ ક્ષણ. એટલી જ વારમાં આખું સારંગપુરનું મંદિર જેવું અત્યારે છે તેવું સુવર્ણ કળશે સહિત, મધ્ય મંદિરમાં શ્રી અક્ષરપુરુષોત્તમ અને યોગમૂર્તિ ગોપાળાનંદ સ્વામી; દક્ષિણ ભાગમાં ગોપીનાથ મહારાજ, મુકુન્દવર્ણી અને હરિકૃષ્ણ મહારાજ; અને ઉત્તર ભાગમાં ધર્મકુળ; આ દિવ્ય મૂર્તિઓ સહિત અતિ ભવ્ય મંદિરનાં દર્શન તેમને થયાં. એ જ સમાધિ અવસ્થામાં કીર્તનની પહેલી કડી તેમના મુખમાંથી નીકળી પડી:
શ્રી સારંગપુરની શોભા સજી અતિ સારી,
જોઈ અલૌકિક અદ્ભુત ધામ અવિકારી.
જાણે મુખે સરસ્વતી હોય તેમ એક પછી એક કીર્તન-પંક્તિઓ તેમના મુખમાંથી નીકળતી ગઈ.
સ્વામીશ્રી કીર્તન સાંભળી રાજી થયા. સારંગપુરના આ દિવ્ય મંદિરનો સંકલ્પ સ્વામીશ્રીએ સારંગપુરમાં કર્યો. શ્રીજીના પાદસ્પર્શથી દિવ્ય બનેલી સારંગપુરની ભૂમિ, પોતાના અંકમાં મહારાજ અને સ્વામીને પધરાવવાના કોડથી, થનગની રહી!

History
(1) Shri Sārangpurnī shobhā sajī ati sārī
The Wish to Construct Sarangpur Mandir
Shastriji Maharaj was rapidly completing the Akshar-Purushottam Mandir in Bochasan, the village which had been sanctified by Shriji Maharaj. Swamishri’s prestige was increasing right in front of Kothari Bhimjibhai of Gadhada. Moreover, he was building a mandir in Bochasan against his approval. Therefore, Kothari Bhimjibhai wrote a reproachful letter to Kothari Govardhanbhai: “You are merchants of Gujarati, eat dāl-bhāt, and Yagnapurushdas is building a mandir in front of your eyes, yet you were not able to stop him. However, if he builds a mandir here in Kāthiyāwād, then he’ll understand our strength here.” Bhimjibhai was implying that Shastriji Maharaj would be unable to build a mandir in Kāthiyāwād.
However, Shastriji Maharaj was not building mandirs to answer a challenge posed by others. Nor was he doing so to increase his fame or prestige. Nor was it just to show his powers. It was only to fulfill Shriji Maharaj’s wish that he was installing the murtis of Akshar and Purushottam in the mandir. Swamishri had the power to raise a mandir from the ground with just a wish; however, he suppressed those powers and behaved like a ordinary human.
Realizing Swamishri’s greatness, the devotees of Sarangpur - Bhimā Sheth, Nāgji Sheth, Oghad Khāchar, etc. - called Swamishri and expressed their wish to build a mandir in Sarangpur. Swamishri arrived in Sarangpur toward the end of S. Y. 1966, accompanied by some devotees of Gujarat. Motibhai Bhagwāndās of Anand was with him. Swamishri stayed in Oghad Khāchar’s darbār for two or three days. The whole Sarangpur came to listen to Swamishri’s talks.
One day, Swamishri went to bathe at the Motā Kund, along with one sadhu and Motibhai. He stopped near the spot where the mandir stands today. Swamishri said to Motibhai, “Motibhai, Shriji Maharaj went around in a circle on his rojho horse and said, ‘I have performed the groundbreaking ceremony. A mandir will be built here.’ Then, he bathed and returned to his residence.”
After returning, he again said, “Motibhai, I want to build a mandir in Sarangpur. Therefore, write a kirtan about the mandir.”
Motibhai froze hearing Swamishri’s words. A mandir in Sarangpur? The mandir in Bochasan has not been completed, there is no money in the accounts, and yet Swamishri wishes to start another mandir. He simply could not grasp Swamishri’s wish to construct another mandir. Seeing Motibhai in thought, Swamishri cast one gaze at him and he saw the Sarangpur mandir exactly like it is today with golden kalashes. He visualized the murtis of Akshar, Purushottam, and Gopalanand Swami in the central shrine. He also saw the murtis of Gopinath Maharaj, Mukund Varni, Harikrishna Maharaj, and the family of Dharmadev (Dharmakul). In this state of samādhi, he sang the first two lines of the kirtan:
Shri Sārangpurnī shobhā sajī ati sārī,
Joī alaukik adbhut Dhām avikārī...
Then, as if inspired by Saraswati, the goddess of speech, he sang other lines of the kirtan one by one. Swamishri was pleased hearing the kirtan. While in Sarangpur, Swamishri expressed his wish to build a mandir in Sarangpur, the village consecrated by Shriji Maharaj’s holy feet many times.
