નિરૂપણ
(૧) વંદું સહજાનંદ રસરૂપ
સત્પુરુષ એટલે ગુણાતીત
માણાવદરમાં તા. ૨૩-૧-’૫૮ના દિવસે સ્વામીશ્રીએ લગભગ પોણો કલાક સુધી એકધારી વાતો કરી હતી અને તે પ્રસંગે વચનામૃતમાં જ્યાં જ્યાં સંત કે સત્પુરુષનો સમાગમ કરવાનું મહારાજે કહ્યું છે, તે સંત ગુણાતીત જ અર્થાત્ ગુણાતીતના સંપૂર્ણ સાધર્મ્યપણાને પામેલા તત્સ્વરૂપ સત્પુરુષ! આ મુદ્દા ઉપર સ્વામીશ્રીની આ રહસ્યમય વાતો હતી:
“ગ. મ. ૭ વચનામૃતમાં મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામીએ વિકાર ટાળવાનો ઉપાય મહારાજને પૂછ્યો, ત્યારે મહારાજે કહ્યું: ‘કોઈ મોટા સંત હોય તેની અતિશય સેવા કરે અને પરમેશ્વરની આજ્ઞામાં મંડ્યો રહે, તો પરમેશ્વરની કૃપા થાય અને વિકારમાત્ર ટળી જાય.’ મુક્તાનંદ સ્વામી જેવા સર્વોપરી સાધુતાના ગુણે યુક્ત સાધુને પણ મહારાજે કોઈ મોટા સંત બતાવ્યા. એવા મોટા સંત કોણ હશે? તે જ ગુણાતીત! મુદ્દો એ છે કે સંતની સેવાથી જ ભગવાનની કૃપા થાય છે અને વિકાર ટળે છે.
“છે. ૨ વચનામૃતમાં પણ મહારાજે કહ્યું છે કે: ‘પૂર્વ જન્મનો સંસ્કાર હશે તે પણ સત્પુરુષના યોગે થયો હશે અને આજ પણ જેને સંસ્કાર થાય છે તે પણ સત્પુરુષના યોગે કરીને જ થાય છે.’ મહારાજનો સંગ તો સૌને હતો, છતાં સંત કેમ બતાવ્યા? અને એ સંત કોણ? એ આપણે સમજવું જોઈએ. એટલું જેને નથી સમજાતું, તેને મહારાજે આ વચનામૃતમાં અતિશય મંદબુદ્ધિવાળો કહ્યો છે.
“પ્રેમાનંદ સ્વામી ‘વંદુ સહજાનંદ...’નાં આઠ પદ બોલ્યા. ત્યારે મહારાજ રાજી થઈ ગયા અને કહ્યું કે, ‘આ સાધુને ઊઠીને દંડવત્-પ્રણામ કરીએ એવું મનમાં થાય છે.’ પછી પ્રેમાનંદ સ્વામીને મહારાજે માગવાનું કહ્યું ત્યારે તેમણે માગ્યું કે ‘આપની મૂર્તિ અખંડ અંતરમાં રહે.’ એટલે મહારાજે કહ્યું, ‘સાધુરામ! એનાં તો સાધન જુદાં કરવાં પડે.’ આ સાધન તે ગુણાતીતનો પ્રસંગ. ગુણાતીત અથવા તે ભાવને પામેલા સત્પુરુષ કેવા હોય?
‘સદ્ગુરુ શબ્દાતીત પરમ પ્રકાશ હૈ;
જા કે શરણે જાય અવિદ્યા નાશ હૈ.’
“જાગા સ્વામી કહેતા કે, ‘ભગવાન પરોક્ષ મનાય છે, ગયા મનાય છે, મારું કાંઈ જાણતા નથી એમ મનાય છે, તે અજ્ઞાન છે.’ જામનગરના મંદિરમાં ગુણાતીતાનંદ સ્વામી પોઢ્યા હતા ત્યારે જાગા સ્વામી નિષ્કુળાનંદ સ્વામીના શ્રીજીમહારાજના વિરહનાં પદ બોલ્યા કે -
‘સખી શીયો કરું રે ઉપાય, પિયુ પરદેશ રે.’
“ત્યારે સ્વામી બેઠા થઈ ગયા અને બોલ્યા કે આ પણ મારા ગુરુનું એક અજ્ઞાન હતું કે પિયુ પરદેશ મનાયા. જ્યારે ભગવાન પ્રત્યક્ષ - નયનગોચર મનાશે, ત્યારે જ્ઞાન સિદ્ધ થશે.

Satpurush Refers to Gunatit
Manavadar. January 23, 1958. Yogiji Maharaj spoke for 45 minutes, explaining that wherever Maharaj spoke about the Sant, that Sant is Gunatit or the one who has acquired the qualities by associating with the Gunatit Satpurush and has become his form:
“In Vachanamrut Gadhada II-7, Muktanand Swami asked, ‘What is the solution to all vices being destroyed?’ Maharaj answered: ‘If one serves some great Sant and abides by the commands of God, then by God’s grace, all his vices are destroyed.’ Muktanand Swami was a great sadhu, possessing many saintly qualities. However, Maharaj pointed him to a great Sant. Who could that great Sant be? That is the Gunatit Sant. The main principle is that by serving the Sant, one receives the grace of God and his vices are eradicated.
“In Vachanamrut Gadhada III-2, Maharaj said: ‘In fact, it appears to Me that all sanskārs one has gathered from previous lives have been attained through association with the Satpurush. Even today, those who obtain sanskārs do so through association with the Satpurush.’ Everyone had the company of Maharaj, yet why did he show them a Sant? Who was that Sant? We should understand this. For those who do not understand this, Maharaj says in this Vachanamrut that they have a dull intellect.
“Premanand Swami sang the eight verses of ‘Vandu Sahajanand...’. Maharaj became pleased and said, ‘I feel in my mind that I should prostrate before this sadhu.’ Then, Maharaj told Premanand Swami to ask for a boon. Premanand Swami asked, ‘May your murti remain in my heart forever.’ Maharaj said, ‘Sadhuram, the means for that are different.’ The means that Maharaj is referring to is the association of the Gunatit. What is the Satpurush who is Gunatit (or one who has acquired his qualities) like?
Sadguru shabdātit param prakāsh hai,
Jā ke sharane jāy avidyā nāsh hai.
(The Sadguru is beyond words. He is the greatest light of wisdom. Whosoever goes to his refuge will have their ignorance destroyed.)
“Jaga Swami used to say, ‘We believe God in non-manifest and he has left; and he does not know anything about me. All of this is ignorance.’ In Jamnagar, Jaga Swami was singing Nishkulanand Swami’s kirtans that were about separation from Shriji Maharaj: ‘Sakhi shiyo re karu upāy re, piyu pardesh re.’
“Swami sat up and said that this was ignorance on the part of my guru (Nishkulanand Swami) - that he believed Shriji Maharaj had left. When one believes God is manifest - right before you eyes - then one will achieve gnān.
