પ્રસંગ
(૧) મધુકર વાત મોહનવર કેરી
અલૌકિક સુખની લહાણ
પોતાની અનુવૃત્તિ સાચવી, આ સાધુએ આજે દેહને ન ગણ્યું એટલે ભગતજી બહુ જ રાજી થઈ ગયા હતા. તેમણે સૌને કહ્યું, “આજે તો તમારે જેમ કરવું હોય તેમ કરો.”
સૌએ ભગતજીની ચંદન વડે પૂજા કરવાનો ઠરાવ કર્યો હતો. તે સંકલ્પ ભગતજીએ જાણી સૌને રાજી કર્યા. સૌએ તાંસળી તાંસળી ભરી ચંદન ઘસ્યું. કેટલીક ચંદનની ગોટીઓ પણ ભાંગી નાખી. એ રીતે ચંદન તૈયાર કરી સર્વે નાહવા ગયા. નાહીને આવ્યા પછી વિજ્ઞાનદાસજીએ ભગતજીને બંને ચરણથી તે માથા સુધી ચંદનની અર્ચા કરી. આ પ્રમાણે સર્વ સંતોએ વારાફરતી ચંદન ચર્ચ્યું. ચંદનમાં કેસર આદિ મિશ્રિત રંગોથી ભગતજીનું આખું શરીર ચંદન તથા કેસરની સુવાસથી દેદીપ્યમાન બની ગયું. તે અલૌકિક મૂર્તિનાં તે સર્વ મંડળે સામે બેસી દર્શન કર્યાં.
પછી શાસ્ત્રી યજ્ઞપુરુષદાસજી ભગતજીની પાસે આવીને બેઠા અને હાથ જોડી વિનંતી કરી, “અમને મળો તો સુખ આવે.”
ત્યારે ભગતજી હસીને કહે, “હવે બસ થયું, આટલું સુખ લીધું તે ઓછું છે?”
ત્યારે શાસ્ત્રી યજ્ઞપુરુષદાસજી કહે, “પેટ ફાટી જાય એટલું ખવરાવ્યું છે અને કહ્યું છે કે, ‘તમારે વશ છું.’ માટે આજે તો મળવું પડશે.”
ત્યારે ભગતજી કહે, “બહુ સારું, ચાલો મળીએ.”
પછી સૌને મળ્યા. તે દરેકના શરીર પણ ચંદનથી અંકિત થઈ ગયાં. પછી ચંદન સુકાયું એટલે ભગતજી કહે, “હવે તો તણાય છે.” એટલે યજ્ઞપુરુષદાસજીએ તથા વિજ્ઞાનદાસજીએ પોતાના રૂમાલ ભીના કરી ચંદન લૂછી લીધું. આવી રીતે અતોલ અને અમાપ સુખ આવ્યું અને બહાર નીકળી ગયા અને અપમાન થયેલું તેનું દુઃખ તો આકડાના તુરની પેઠે ઊડી ગયું.
માહાત્મ્યજ્ઞાને યુક્ત ભક્તિવાળા પોતાના મંડળને ભક્તિમાં પુષ્ટિ કરવા રાત્રે ભગતજીએ ઉદ્ધવગીતા વંચાવી. તેમાં આ પદ આવ્યું:
મધુકર વાત મોહનવર કેરી, જાદુગારી જોર રે;
નરનારી એને ગાય સૂણે તે, તજે સંસારનો નોર રે... મધુકર
કૃષ્ણકથા જેણે પ્રેમે સાંભળી, તે તો તજી કુટુંબ પરિવાર રે;
પરમહંસ થઈ વનમાં વસિયા, જાણે છે સઉ સંસાર રે... મધુકર
શુક નારદ સનકાદિક એના, ગુણનું કરે નિત ગાન રે;
ધન દોલત ઘરબાર ન એને, ભમતાં ફરે રાનોરાન રે... મધુકર
એવું અમે જાણીએ તોયે એના ગુણ, મુખ થકી નવ મેલાય રે;
પાણીડું પીને ઘર અમે પૂછ્યું, હવે એનો શો ઉપાય રે... મધુકર
જે કોઈ જગમાં એને અનુસરશે, તેના તે પવાડા ગવાય રે;
મુક્તાનંદના નાથને સેવી, જગ છતરાયાં થાય રે... મધુકર
એટલે યજ્ઞપુરુષદાસજીએ હસીને કહ્યું, “આ તો પૂર્વથી જ રીત ચાલતી આવે છે, આપણે કંઈ નવું નથી.”
તે સાંભળી ભગતજી હસ્યા અને બોલ્યા, “ભગવાન ને સંતની રીત એકસરખી જ હોય. તેથી તે મૂર્તિનું જ્યારે મુમુક્ષુ જીવો શ્રદ્ધાએ સહિત દર્શન કરે છે, ત્યારે તેમની સર્વ ઇન્દ્રિયો તે મૂર્તિ સન્મુખ તણાઈ જાય છે. પછી તો તેનું જ દર્શન, તેની જ વાત અને તેનો જ પ્રસંગ ગમે અને તેની જ પછવાડે રાન-રાન અને પાન-પાન થઈ જાય તો પણ ફરે. વળી, ભગવાન પણ રસિયા વાલમ છે. તે એવા ભક્તને પોતાની મૂર્તિનું અલૌકિક સુખ આપ્યા જ કરે, એટલે જગતના દુઃખની ગણતરી જ તેને રહે નહિ. આવો ગોપીઓને શ્રીકૃષ્ણને વિષે અપાર સ્નેહ હતો. તે બધાએ સિદ્ધ કરવો જ જોઈએ.” એમ સત્પુરુષમાં જોડાવાની અલૌકિક વાતો કરી.

Prasang
(1) Madhukar vāt mohanavar kerī
Gaining Divine Bliss
Bhagatji was very pleased with the sadhus, as they had obeyed him without thinking about their bodies. “You can do as you wish today,” he said to all of them, offering them the chance to ask him for anything. Hearing these words, they decided to anoint Bhagatji with sandalwood paste. Bhagatji already knew their wishes and decided to fulfill them. They
used several sandalwood sticks to prepare metal bowls full of sandalwood paste. Having done this, they went for a bath. Once they returned, Vignandas Swami anointed Bhagatji from head to toe with sandalwood paste. Bhagatji's body shone brightly and emanated the scent of sandalwood as well as saffron, which had been mixed in with the paste. All of them then sat in front of him to enjoy this unique divine darshan.
“Please embrace us and give us happiness,” Shastri Yagnapurushdasji said, having sat down next to him with folded
hands.
“That’s enough now!” Bhagatji hailed, laughing, “You have already taken so much bliss.”
“You forced us to eat until our stomachs were completely full. In addition, you did say, ‘I have been won over by you.’ Therefore, you will have to embrace us today.”
Bhagatji conceded and said, “Very well then, come along and let us embrace.”
Bhagatji embraced all of the sadhus in turn and their bodies became covered with sandalwood paste. After a while, the
sandalwood paste dried and Bhagatji told them it was pulling his skin. Yagnapurushdasji and Vignandas Swami wet their headcloths and wiped the sandalwood paste off.
On this occasion, all of the sadhus received such incomparable and immeasurable bliss. What pain they had suffered through being insulted and having to leave the Satsang vanished instantly. Bhagatji asked for the Uddhav Gita to be read. His aim was to develop the devotional qualities of those in the group who possessed bhakti coupled with the understanding of God’s greatness. In the Uddhav Gita, they came across the following verse:
Madhukar vāt Mohanvar keri, jādugāri jor re;
Narnāri ene gāya sune te, taje sansārno nor re...Madhukar†
“This method of devotion is not new. It is part of our tradition,” Yagnapurushdasji said, smiling.
Bhagatji replied, “The ways of God and the Sant are similar. When an aspirant jiva has darshan of that form of God with faith, all his senses are drawn to that form. He follows that form and only wants to have its darshan, its contact and talk about things related to it. Even if this ruins him or causes him great difficulty, he still follows that form of God. God is the protector of those who love him. His devotees receive divine bliss from his form and they are oblivious to the miseries of the world. The gopis possessed such deep love for Shri Krishna and all of you should aspire to emulate this.” In this way, Bhagatji spoke about attaching oneself to the Satpurush.
†God narrates a special discourse which has magical strength in it;
When men and women hear it, they shun the pleasures of the world...
Whoever hears the story of God with love, forsakes family and relatives;
Realizing the miseries of sansār, he renounces and resides in the forest...
Shuk, Narad and the Sanaks daily sing his praises;
Such a person has no wealth, riches or palaces, he simply wanders from jungle to jungle...
So, knowing his virtues, we cannot stop praising him,
We asked him where he lives, for what is the answer to this?
Epics will be sung of whoever follows him in the world;
Engaged in serving the Lord of Muktanand, the universe is open to such a person...
