Translation
(1) Kene dukh devāno dilmā re bhulye bhunḍo bhāv nathī
Nishkulanand Swami continues to describe the characteristics of a true Sadhu.
Kene dukh devāno dalmā re, bhulye bhunḍo bhāv nathī;
Par upkāre paḷpaḷmā re, ūpje īchchhā antarthī... 1
(1) In his heart, he has no malicious intentions of hurting anyone, even by mistake. Only thoughts that come from his heart every second are of helping others.
Panchvishayne parharī re, varte chhe vaṇ vikāre;
Teh jaṇāy jove karīne re, jan e bole chhe jyāre... 2
(2) He remains free of desires, while having abandoned the panch-vishays (indulgences of the five senses). His true character can be discerned from the manner of his speech.
Vaṇ vichāre paṇ vātu re, āve enā antarthī;
Bole aham mamtānu ghasātu re, ūtaryu man tansukh parthī... 3
(3) Without much thought, words (of renunciation) naturally come from his heart. (His words are not arranged or premeditated. He speaks as he behaves.) He speaks ill of ‘I-ness’ and ‘my-ness’. He has an apathy toward the happiness related to the mind and body.
Evā kyāthī maḷe jan eke re, nīrmaḷ antar nishkāmī;
Kahe Nishkuḷānand viveke re, bījā bahu hoy harāmī... 4
(4) Where can one find even one who is pure in his heart and free of desires? Nishkulanand Swami says with discretion, others are unworthy and wicked in comparison.
