Translation
(1) Moṭā thāvānu manmā re dalmā ghaṇo ḍoḍ
Moṭā thāvānu manmā re, dalmā ghaṇo ḍoḍ;
Tevā guṇ nathī tanmā re, kā kare tu koḍ... 1
(1) In your heart, you have great expectation to become great. However, you do not possess the virtues of greatness, so why do you long for greatness?
Tu tapāsī jone tujne re, ūtarī antarmāy;
Pachhī īchchheje thāvā pūjyane re, tenu nathī kāy... 2
(2) Inspect yourself by going deep in your heart. Realizing you have nothing, how can you desire to be worshiped?
Kām krodh vaḷī lobh chhe re, liye chhe tārī lāj;
Tene karī antare kshobh chhe re, jo vichārī āj... 3
(3) Lust, anger, and greed are discrediting your reputation. These vicious natures are a disturbance in your heart; think about that and you will see.
Bhunḍā ghāṭ ūṭhe chhe bhītare re, je na kahevāy bā’r;
Eh vātno tāre antare re, nathī nar vichār... 4
(4) Inappropriate thoughts arise in your mind, which cannot be said out loud. You do not even think about this.
Nathī khoḷto khoṭya māynīre, de chhe bījāne dosh;
Kahe Nishkuḷānand nyāynī re, amtho sho apsosh... 5
(5) You do not look for your own faults, yet you find faults in others. Nishkulanand Swami says where is the justice? You have no sorrow of this (i.e. in seeing others as flawed and oneself as perfect).
