Translation
(1) Evā jan jīvtā jarūr muā chhe mānī lejo re
Evā jan jīvtā jarūr, muā chhe mānī lejo re;
Dekhī durgandhne rahejo dūr, ābhaḍchheṭ e to chhe jo re... 1
(1) Indeed, believe those types of people to be dead even while alive. Smelling their stench, stay far away from them, for they are like untouchables.
Kāḍhyā vinā nahi sūjhe kām, sūtak e shīd rākho re;
Bāḷī jāḷī tāḷo enu ṭhām, vānī vahete jaḷe nākho re... 2
(2) Without throwing such people out of one’s life, one will not know what needs to be done. Why observe sutak† unnecessarily? You must cremate them and wash their ashes away.
Ghaṇu rākhtā e gharmāy, suṇī ke saḍī jāshe re;
Kāḍho velya ma karjo kāy , ghaṇu rākhye gandh thāshe re... 3
(3) Such dead bodies will swell and decay if kept in the home. Get rid of it without delay, for the more you keep them, the more they will give off foul odor.
Keḍe karvī nahi tenī kāṇ, kharkharo khoṭo khoḷī re;
Kahe Nishkuḷānand sujāṇ, kahyu me tapāsī toḷī re... 4
(4) After you dispose of their bodies, do not cry and lament (as if you have lost a loved one). Nishkulanand Swami says to the wise, “I have closely examined and said this.”
†Sutak is the custom of maintaining purity after someone from one’s family dies. Nishkulannad Swami is implying that by associating with people who are characterized by vices are effectively dead, so why associate with them? It is like observing sutak.
