Translation
(1) 1-119: Dhīr dhurandharā shūr sāchā kharā
Dhīr dhurandharā shur sāchā kharā, maraṇno bhay te manmā na āṇe;
The truly brave are those who uphold forbearance. They never fear death in their mind.
Arva nikharva daḷ ek sāmā fare, truṇne tulya tehne ja jāṇe... 1
Despite being faced with an army of 100 billion soldiers on horseback, they consider them as a mere blade of grass (i.e. nothing).
Mohnu sainya mahā vikaṭ laḍvā same, mare paṇ morcho nav tyāge;
When fighting the frightful army of moh (swabhāvs, desires, etc.), they would rather die than abandon the fight against them.
Kavi guṇī panḍit buddhe bahu āgḷā, e daḷ dekhtā sarva bhāge... 2
The poets, virtuous, pandits, and very intelligent, etc. all flee upon seeing the army of moh.
Kām ne krodh mad lobh daḷmā mukhī, laḍvā taṇo nav lāg lāge;
Among the enemies: lust, anger, arrogance, and greed are the foremost. There is no chance of defeating them.
Jogīyā jangam tyāgī tapsī ghaṇā, morche gaye dharmadvār māge... 3
Many ascetics and renunciants ask for death rather than continue to fight these enemies.
Evā ari-sainya shu aḍīkham āthaḍe, gurumukhī jogīyā jukti jāṇe;
When faced with such an army, only those who have the refuge of a guru know how to defeat them.
Muktānand mohfoj māryā pachhī, aṭaḷ sukh akhanḍ padrāj māṇe... 4
Muktanand Swami says, “One who defeats the army of swabhāvs experiences continuous happiness and enjoys an elevated state.”
