Translation
(1) Matvālā taṇī rīt mahā vikaṭ chhe
Matvālā taṇī rīt mahā vikaṭ chhe, premaras pīe te jan jāṇe;
The path of love is extremely difficult. Only those who drink the juice of love (learn the path of love) know.
Mūnḍā te shu jāṇe majīṭhanā pāḍane, bhīkhatā janmano anta āṇe... 1
What do ascetics know about the purpose of saffron clothes (to attach oneself to God)? They reach the end of their lives merely begging for food (i.e. never experience the real love of God).
Varṇa āshram taṇī āḍ mahā vikaṭ chhe, te kem pādharī vāt prīchhe;
The strong belief in one’s varna and āshram is a great obstacle. How can one understand this correctly?
Shīsh arpyā vinā Shyām rīze nahī, shīsh arpe je koī sharaṇ ichchhe... 2
God will not be pleased unless you have offered your head to him. One who wishes for God’s refuge will offer their head to him.
Prem bāg bagīche nav nīpaje, dām kharachye nav prem pāme;
One cannot find love in a garden, nor can one attain love by spending money.
Mastak dhaḍāmā je jan melashe, te ghaṭ premapravāh sāme... 3
The heart of one who places their head to level the balance will flow of love.
Sur nar muni taṇī chāncha khūnche nahī, chaud lokamā e agam sahune;
The ‘beaks’ of deities, man, or munis cannot prick (taste) love. That love cannot be realized anywhere in the 14 realms.
Muktānand e agam ras ati ghaṇo, sadguru mojathī sugam bahune... 4
Muktanand Swami says, if one who has pleased the Satpurush, then he easily experiences abundance of love, which is otherwise difficult to attain for others.
