Translation
(1) 1-127: Dhār talvārnī soyalī chapaḷ chhe
Dhār talvārnī soyalī chapaḷ chhe, vachannī ṭek te vikaṭ jāṇo;
It is easier to walk on the blade of a sword, but more difficult to follow the commands of a guru.
Bhekhanī ṭek te vachanmā nav rahe, rahe te pragaṭ bhakti pramāṇo... 1
The resolve of renunciation may not remain when having to follow the commands of a guru. If it remains in following the commands of the guru, that is devotion of the manifest.
Shūrne ek paḷ kām āvī paḍe, mare kā moj laī sukh pāme;
Only a second becomes useful to the brave, [for] he dies [in that second] and earns happiness [of swarg] or he earns [the glory of victory].
Sant sangrāmthī paḷ n pāchho haṭe, man damavā taṇe chaḍe bhāme... 2
A true sant never retreats, even for a moment, [from life’s battle]. He is prepared to fight with his mind.
Man shu laḍavā koṇ sāmo manḍe, sur nar asur bahu hār māne;
Who will fight their mind? Many deities, men, and demons have accepted defeat in this fight.
Gurumukhī shiṣhya viṇ rūnḍha raṇmā fire, jagatano shabda nav suṇe kāne... 3
A devotee who has a guru will fight without his head (i.e. extremely bravely) on the battleground, turning a deaf ear to the criticisms and praises of the world.
Shūr ne santmā antar ati ghaṇo, sūraj sang khadyot shobhā;
There is a great difference between a warrior and a sant. The difference is like [the light of] a firefly in front of the sun.
Muktānand te santnī āgaḷe, moh ne man kare trāya tobhā... 4
Muktanand Swami says, in front of that sant, the swabhāvs and the mind cry out to be saved.
