Translation
(1) Sant param hitkārī jagat māhī
This kirtan by Brahmanand Swami is part of the Godi, which is sung prior to the sandhyā ārti (ārti sung in the evening time). There are 4 verses to the Godi. The second verse emphasizes the qualities of a genuine Sant - Anadi Aksharbrahman - and how his samāgam benefits us. The translation is as follows:
Sant param hitkārī, jagat māhi...
Prabhupad pragaṭ karāvat prīti, bharam mīṭāvat bhārī... jagat 1
(1) In this world, the Sant is the greatest benefactor who only wishes the best for you in his heart. He encourages one to develop affection for the manifest form of God (pragat). He eradicates infatuation that we have developed in this world. (Here, bharam means bhram: the delusion that everything in this world is permanent. We engage in our social duties as if they are eternal; however, death is inevitable. Therefore, the Sant reminds us of the ephemeral nature of this world and attaches us to God, who is eternal.)
Param-krupālu sakal jīvan par, Harisam sab dukhhārī... jagat 2
(2) He is extremely compassionate toward all jivas. He is equivalent to God in terms of destroying all forms of one’s miseries.
Triguṇātīt fīrat tanu tyāgī, rīt jagatse nyārī... jagat 3
(3) He behaves above the influence of the three gunas (sattva, raj, and tam) and has no attachment to his body. His ways are not found in this world (i.e. his ways are not ordinary and are not found in ordinary men).
Brahmānand kahe santkī sobat, milat hai pragaṭ Murārī... jagat 4
(4) Brahmanand Swami says that by associating with the Sant, one finds the manifest form of God.
