Translation

(1) Orā āvo Shyām sanehī

Sadguru Premanand Swami

Orā āvo Shyām sanehī, sundar var jou vhālā;

Jatan karīne jīvan mārā, jīvamāhī prou vhālā. 1

My beloved Mahārāj, you are the most handsome of all; come near so that I may see you. You are my life, and with great care I shall thread (your image) into my soul. 1

Chihna anupam ango-angnā, sūrate sambhāru vhālā;

Nakhshikh nīrkhī nautam mārā, urmā utāru vhālā. 2

With concentration, I remember the indescribable signs on the various parts of your body. As I see the (various) parts of your body from head to toe, which always seem novel, I place (their image) into my heart. 2

Aruṇ kamaḷsam jugal charaṇnī, shobhā ati sārī vhālā;

Chintvan karvā ātur ati, man vrutti mārī vhālā. 3

Your feet, colored red (pink) like lotuses, are extremely beautiful. My mind is extrememly eager to contemplate (on them). 3

Pratham te chintvan karu, sundar soḷe chihna vhālā;

Ūrdhvarekhā opī rahī, atishe navīn vhālā. 4

I first contemplate on all sixteen beautiful signs on your feet. The Urdhvarekha is striking and extremely novel… 4

Angūṭhā āngaḷī vachchethī, nīsarīne āvī vhālā;

Pānīnī be kore jotā, bhaktane man bhāvī vhālā. 5

…as it emanates from between the big toe and second toe… and (forks) to both sides of the heel, seeing which, the devotees’ minds are pleased. 5

Jugal charaṇmā kahu manohar, chihna tenā nām vhālā;

Shuddh mane karī sambhārtā, nāsh pāme kām vhālā. 6

I shall (now) tell you the names of the captivating (divine) signs on (Mahārāj’s) feet. By recalling these signs with a pure mind, desires are destroyed. 6

Aṣhtakoṇ ne ūrdhvarekhā, swastik jambu jav vhālā;

Vajra, ankush, ketu ne padma, jamṇe page nav vhālā. 7

An octagon, urdhvarekhā, swastik, jāmbu, barley, thunder bolt, ankush, flag, and lotus are the nine signs on His right foot. 7

Trikoṇ, kaḷash ne gopad sundar, dhanush ne mīn vhālā;

Ardhachandra ne vyom sāt chhe, ḍābe page chihna vhālā. 8

A triangle, kalash, beautiful gopad, bow, fish, crescent-moon, and sky are the seven signs on the left foot. 8

Jamṇā pagnā angūṭhānā nakhmāhī chihna vhālā;

Te to nīrkhe je koī bhakta, prītie pravīṇ vhālā. 9

There is a mark inside the nail of the right foot’s big toe. Any devotee who sees this mark (has) perfect affection. 9

E ja angūṭhāne bā’re til ek nautam dhāru vhālā;

Premānand kahe nīrkhu prīte, prāṇ laī vāru vhālā. 10

I meditate upon the seemingly novel beauty mark near that same (right) big toe. Premānand (Swāmi) says that I would sacrifice my life to affectionately view (these marks). 10
