(1) Vaḷī sahu sāmbhaḷo re mārī vārtā param anūp
In the fourth verse, Bhagwan Swaminarayan gives instructions to his devotees about how to reach his abode Akshardham. Maharaj mainly states that one should serve him without worldly desires, forsake pleasures of the five senses, and abide by the niyam-dharma that he has given his devotees.
Vaḷī sahu sāmbhaḷo re, mārī vārtā param anūp;
Furthermore, listen to my unparalleled talk.
Param siddhānt chhe re, sahune hitkārī sukhrūp..1
It is the greatest principle; beneficial and blissful to all.
Sahu haribhaktane re, jāvu hoye māre Dhām;
All of my devotees, if you want to go to my Akshardham...
To Mane sevjo re, tame shuddh bhāve thaī nishkām..2
Then, serve me with pure feelings and free of worldly desires.
Sahu haribhaktane re, rahevu hoye Māre pās;
All of my devotees, if you want to stay near me...
To tame meljo re, mithyā panchvishaynī āsh..3
Then, forsake the false expectations of enjoying panch-vishays (pleasures of the five senses).
Muj viṇā jāṇjo re, bijā māyik sahu ākār;
Know that, other than me, all other forms are characterized by māyā.†
Prīti toḍjo re, jūṭhā jāṇī kuṭumb parivār..4
Break the love with your familial relationships, having believed them to be false (temporary).
Sahu tame pāḷjo re, sarve dradh karī mārā nem;
Everyone should observe the niyams I have given you firmly.
Tam par rījhshe re, Dharma ne Bhakti karshe kshem..5
Dharma and Bhakti will be pleased with you and will look after your welfare.
Sant haribhaktane re, dīdho shikshāno updesh;
In this manner, Maharaj instructed his sadhus and devotees.
Laṭkā hāthnā re, kartā shobhe Naṭvar vesh..6
He looked handsome while he gestured with his hands.
Nij jan upare re, amrut varsyā ānandkand;
He, who is the source of happiness, showered amrut upon his own devotees.
Jem sahu aushadhi re, prīte poshe pūraṇ chand..7
Just as the light of the full moon nourishes the herbal medicines...
Shobhe santmā re, jem kāī uḍugaṇmā uḍurāj;
Just as the moon shines brightly among the constellation of stars, Maharaj shines among his sadhus.
Īshwar ude thayā re, kaḷimā karvā jannā kāj..8
Maharaj rose (manifested) in Kali-yug to liberate the jivas.
Ā pad shīkhshe re, gāshe sāmbhaḷshe karī pyār;
Whoever learns, sings, or hears this pad with love...
Premānandnā re, Swāmī leshe tenī sār..9
Then, Premanand’s Swami - Maharaj - will look after him.
