Translation

(1) Tāre māthe nagārā vāge motnā re

Tāre māthe nagārā vāge motnā re,

nathī ek ghaḍīno nīrdhār,

 Toy jānyā nahi Jagdīshne re...

The drums of death are beating on your head. There’s not even a seconds delay that you will die. Yet, you still have not recognized God.

Motā melīne rāj marī gayā re,

 jone jātā na lāgī vār... toy 1

(1) Even the great have left their kingdoms and died without delay.

Tāru joban gayu jakh mārtu re,

 māthe kālā maṭī gayā kesh... toy 2

(2) Your youth has been wasted. Your hair is no longer black.

Antkāḷe levāne jam āviyā re,

 teno bhāḷī bhayankar vesh... toy 3

(3) The Jam(dut) have come to take you away, with their terrifying appearance.

Rom koṭi vīnchhī taṇī vednā re,

 dukh pāmyo tu daīvnā chor... toy 4

(4) You suffer the misery of millions of scorpion bites in each pore of your body. You, who are a thief of God, have found misery. [Daīvnā chor - you were given the human body to worship God but you spend it on your self, hence a thief of God.]

Sagā svārthī maḷyā sahu lūtvā re,

 kenu jarā na chāle jor... toy 5

(5) Your selfish relatives are stealing from you. You have no control over that.

Jībh ṭūkī paḍī ne tūṭī nāḍiyu re,

 thayu deh tajyānu taṭkāḷ... toy 6

(6) Your tongue can no longer speak and your pulse (veins) is weak. The time has come for your body to die instantly.

Devānand kahe na jāṇyā mārā Nāthne re,

 maḷyo māṇasno deh vishāḷ... toy 7

(7) Devanand Swami says you never recognized his God with the human body that was given to you.
