Translation
(1) Harijan sāchā re je urmā himmat rākhe
Harijan sāchā re, je urmā himmat rākhe,
Vipatti vartī re, kedī dīn vachan nav bhākhe... 1
(1) A true devotee is one who has courage in his heart. Even in hardship, he never speaks discouragingly.
Jagnu sukhḍukh re, māyik mithyā karī jāṇe,
Tan dhan jātā re, antarmā shok na āṇe... 2
(2) He considers all forms of worldly happiness and misery as false. If he suffers some loss of his body or wealth, he does not lament.
Par upkārī re, jan prem-niyammā pūrā,
Daihik dukhmā re, dājhe nahi sādhu shurā... 3
(3) He is benevolent to others and complete with love for God and following niyams (commands) of God. Such as brave devotee does not feel pain when facing misery of the body.
Harine samare re, nitya ahonīsh umang bhariyā,
Sarva tajīne re, Naṭnāgar vahālā kariyā... 4
(4) He continuously remembers God with renewed enthusiasm each day. He has renounced affection for all else except God.
Brahmānand kahe re, evā harijannī balihārī,
Mastak jātā re, nav mele ṭek vichārī... 5
(5) Brahmanand Swami says such a devotee never gives up his resolve (to observe niyams/follow āgnā) even if he were to lose his head.
