Translation

(1) Re sagpaṇ Harivarnu sāchu

Sadguru Brahmanand Swami

In this kirtan, Brahmanand Swami metaphorically speaking of marrying God and forsaking his relationship with everyone else in the world. By marrying God, he is renouncing to become a sadhu to please God, because that is the only permanent relationship. Other relationships by marriage and birth are all false.

Re sagpaṇ Harivarnu sāchu,

 bīju sarve kshaṇbhangur kāchu...

Only the relationship with God is true and permanent. All other relationships are false (temporary and ephemeral).

Re sau sāthe prīti ṭāḷī,

 re bhāngyu man mithyā bhāḷī,

  Chhe varvā jevā ek Vanmāḷī... re sag 1

(1) I have broken my affection to everyone else. I have broken the wishes of the mind (to marry anyone else) believing it to be false. Only God is worthy of being wed.

Re sthir nahi āvardā thoḍī,

 re tuchchh jāṇī āshā toḍī,

  Me jagnā Jīvan sāthe joḍī... re sag 2

(2) One’s lifespan is uncertain. I broke all expectations, understanding worldly life to be trivial. I have joined my self to God, the life of the whole world.

Re fogaṭ ferā nav farīe,

 re par gher pāṇī shu bharīe,

  Varīe to Naṭvarne varīe... re sag 3

(3) We should not go around the fire of marriage because those ‘ferā’ are in vain. Why should we fill someone else’s pot with water? If we should marry, it should be God.

Re Bhūdhar bhetyā bhay bhāgo,

 re sahu sāthe toḍyo dhāgo,

  E rasik rangīlāthī rang lāgo... re sag 4

(4) By embracing God, fear has fled. I have broken the thread connecting me to everyone else. I have been colored by the color of God.

Re evu jāṇīne sagpaṇ kīdhu,

 re me’ṇu te shir upar līdhu,

  Brahmānandnu kāraj sīdhu... re sag 5

(5) After understanding all this, I have married God (renounced and become a sadhu), even if I am teased about this path. My goal is straightforward.
