I behold Bhagwan in my heart. Who cares what other people do!
Re hu koīnī na rahu zālī, re vahālāne thāvā vā’lī,
I will not be held back by anyone. I will become dear to Bhagwan.
Re shir karmā laīne chālī... Re dhariyā 1
I walk with my head in my hand (i.e. I am prepared to lose my head – meaning ready to face criticism.)
Re jem gaj jāy bajāre dhasī, re shvān mare bahu bhasī re bhasī,
Just as an elephant walks in a market and a dog dies barking at it...
Te hāthīne (man) nahi shankā kashī... Re dhariyā 2
The elephant is not worried about the dog.
Re baḷavā gaī jo satī sāchī, re rom-rom piyā sang rāchī,
A faithful woman who is ready to burn herself on her husband’s funeral pyre; she has love for her husband.
Te paḍ mā jaī na vaḷe pāchhī... Re dhariyā 3
She will not turn back.
Re jo paḍthī pāchhī āve, re lāj tajī man lalchāve,
If she turns back, then she invites shame.
Te satī maṭīne kuttī kā’ve... Re dhariyā 4
She will be called a dog instead of a “sati”.
Re Brahmānand em vichārī, re bīk sarve kāḍhī bārī,
Understanding this, Brahmanand Swami removed all his fear.
Re maḷiyā Mohan sukhkārī... Re dhariyā 5
He found Bhagwan, who is the source of bliss.
