Translation
(1) Janmyā tyāthī jarūr jāṇo, marvānu chhe māthe jī
Janmyā tyāthī jarūr jāṇo, marvānu chhe māthe jī;
Certainly know that since you were born, death is on your head (you will certainly die).
Āvyā tyāre shu lāvyā ne, shu laī jāvu sāthe jī... 1
What did you bring when you came (into this world), and what will you take with you?
Savār thāy ne sānj paḍe chhe, din upar din jāye jī;
The morning comes and night falls, day after day passes.
Āj kāl kartā āvardā, jone ochhī thāye jī... 2
The new day becomes yesterday. In this manner, your lifespan decreases.
Ek janme ne ek mare chhe, sthīr nathī koī ṭharvā jī;
One being is born and another dies. No one remains stable (permanent).
Marī gayā te janma dhare ne, janma dhare te marvā jī... 3
Those who have died are born again, and those who are born will die again.
Sansār saghḷo kāḷ chavāṇu, karmavash narnārī jī;
The whole world is consume by time. All men and women are bound to karmas.
Dās Nārāyaṇ kahe chhe bhāio, karma karo vichārī jī... 4
Narayandas says, “Perform karmas thoughtfully.”
