Translation
(1) Darad mīṭāyā merā dilkā
Darad mīṭāyā merā dilkā, moye aushadh amrut pāyā re…
[God] cured my heart’s disease. He gave me medicine (amrut) to drink.
Vaidya milyā Vrajrāj bihārī, nāḍī dekhan āyā;
I found a doctor who resides in Vraj (Krishna); he came to examine my pulse.
Gnān dhyān kī golī re dīnī, ranch na rog rahāyā re... darad 1
He gave me a pill in the form of knowledge and meditation and left no trace of disease.
Gayā rog man bhayā nīrogī, dil Giridhar darshāyā;
My mind became free of disease (pure) and I saw God...
Harikrishṇa Parabrahma pūrātan, bhāv sahit man bhāyā re... darad 2
...who is the eternal Harikrishna. I developed affection for him.
Miṭyā vishaykā ḍāgh manorath, mūl maram samjāyā;
The desire to indulge in material pleasures ended and I understood the eternal truth.
Janma maraṇkā jhagḍā re chhuṭyā, antar alakh likhāyā re... darad 3
I was freed from the cycles of births and deaths; you wrote in my heart what evades everyone (taught me the incomprehensible wisdom).
Yog bhakti vairāgya tyāgkā, churaṇ chāru banāyā;
He mixed my medicine of yoga, bhakti, vairagya, and tyag.
Devānand kahe dayā karī Hari, charī Hari āp batāyā re... darad 4
Devanand Swami says, “God has been compassionate and showed me how to live.”
