Translation

(1) Man mānya kahyu tu māru te kām bagāḍyu tāru

Shri Jagdish

Man mānya kahyu tu māru, te kām bagāḍyu tāru...

Oh mind! Heed my advice, without which your efforts are wasted.

Tu mārag mūki chālyo, mahā-fogaṭ fūlyo fālyo

You have deserted the [right] path, filled with lots of ego.

Bahu viṣhay vyāl te zālyo, karyu aghaṭit,

You gripped indulgences (in the form of a snake) and engaged in misdeeds.

Tyaji shubh rit, vichāri chitta, sūjhe to sāru... Man mānya…1

You abandoned the pious way. Now think. It’s good if you do understand.

Satya vachano lāge kaḍvā, avaḷe raste āthaḍavā,

The truth tastes bitter when perusing the wrong path.

Bhavsāgarmā fari paḍvā, upāy apār,

Re-entering the ocean of births and deaths, limitless ways are available.

Kare nirdhār, thaine tyār, na lesh vichāryu... Man mānya…2

You decided and were prepared (to tread the wrong path), without thinking [it through].

Tu āvyo to shā māṭe, teno na maḷe uchāṭe,

Why are you here? You don’t care about that.

Lai jāshe vasmi vāṭe, have kyā jaish,

It will lead you down a troublesome path; where will you go now?

Fajeta ja thaish, vichāri rahish, nathi maṭnāru... Man mānya…3

You will be shamed, at a loss for thought, without a cure.

Kadi Satpuruṣhoni sevā, te nā kari mahāsukh levā,

You never served the Satpurush to gain great happiness.

Bahu khādhā miṭhā mevā, dhari abhimān,

[Instead] you enjoyed the sweetness of this world, maintaining your ego.

Suṇyu nahi gnān, kadi paṇ kān, gaṇine pyāru... Man mānya…4

Without lovingly lending your ears to listen to [any] wisdom (for your own benefit).

Satsang na sukhpad jāṇyo, man-gamti moju māṇyo,

Not believing Satsang to be the place of happiness; whatever you fancied, you enjoyed.

Vanṭhele khūb vakhāṇyo, kahe Jagdish,

Immoral people praised you immensely, says Jagdish.

Hu satya kahish, te to ahonish, karyu man-dhāryu... Man mānya…5

I will say the truth, that you have always done as per your own mind.
