કીર્તન મુક્તાવલી
Translation
(1) Jagat me jīvnā thorā ma bhūle dekhī tan gorā
Jagat me jīvnā thorā, ma bhūle dekhī tan gorā;
One lives a short time in this world. Do not be mistaken by seeing your attractive appearance (i.e. that you will remain young and attractive forever).
Khaḍā shir kāl sā verī, karegā khākhkī ḍherī... 1
Kāl hovers over your head like an enemy, and it will turn your body into a heap of ashes.
Karam ku samaj ke karnā, shire nij bhār nā bharnā;
Performed your karmas with understanding. Do not unnecessarily carry a burden (of sinning) on your shoulders.
Kāgad niksatahī jab hī, kaṭhin hai bolanā tabhī... 2
When God’s letter arrives (informing you of your life coming to an end), you will have difficulty speaking (explaining your deeds).
Nahī tahā sagā kou apanā, agnikī zālme tapanā;
No one is related to anyone there (narak). One will burn in the flames of fire.
Lekhā Jamrāj jab karahī, kiye kṛut bhogane parahī... 3
When Jamraj examines your account (of karmas), you will have to pay (for all your sins, i.e., you will be punished for your sins).
Brahmānand kahat hai tumku, na dījo doṣh ab hamku;
Brahmanand Swami says to you, “Do not find fault in me (for telling you the truth).”
Pukāre pīṭake tālī, jāyegā hāth le khālī... 4
He claps his hands and shouts this truth: You will go empty handed.
