(1) 1-686: Prabhujī tum chandan ham pānī
Prabhujī tum chandan, ham pānī;
Prabhu! You are sandalwood and we are water.
Jākī ang ang bās samānī...
Each part of your body is filled with that [fragrance of the sandalwood].
Prabhujī, tum ghanvan, ham morā;
Prabhu! You are a dark rain cloud and we are peacocks.
jaīse chītvat chandra chakorā... Prabhu 1
[We crave your darshan] just as the chakor bird (type of partridge) gazes at the moon with obsession.
Prabhujī, tum dīpak, ham bātī;
Prabhu! You are a flame and we are a stick.
jākī jyoti barai din rātī... Prabhu 2
Your flame burns all day and night.
Prabhujī, tum motī, ham dhāgā;
Prabhu! You are a pearl and we are the thread.
jaīse sonhi milat sohāgā... Prabhu 3
Just as fragrance is added to gold (i.e. something good was made even better).
Prabhujī, tum Swāmī, ham dāsā;
Prabhu! You are the master and we are your servants.
aisī bhakti kare Raidāsā... Prabhu 4
Raidas worships you with devotion [of servitude].
