Translation

(1) Prīt lagī so lagī lagī ve merī

Sadguru Premanand Swami

Prīt lagī so lagī, lagī ve merī...

I developed affection [for Shriji Maharaj]. The loved just happened.

Premanand Swami’s sentiment here is that he could not help developing love for Shriji Maharaj. It happened naturally.

Jab te prīt lagī Hari charane, tab hi te hoy rahī cherī. 1

When I developed love for Maharaj, I became his servant.

Charankamal binā aur na chāhu, taj dīnī āsh sab kerī. 2

I do not wish for anything other than his lotus-like feet. I gave up expectations from all others.

Ashṭ siddhi navnidhi chaturdhā, Hari par ḍāru vārī ferī. 3

I reject the eight yogic powers,¹ the nine treasures,² and the four types of mukti³ in favor of Maharaj.

Premānand ek sant Hari binā, aur sab jīyke bairī. 4

Premanand Swami says, “Other than Maharaj and the Sant, all others are enemies of the jiva.”

1. The eight yogic powers (‘siddhis’) are: (1) animā - the ability to make oneself subtle or small, whereby the yogi can enter even nonporous rocks; (2) mahimā - the ability to become large, whereby a yogi can become as large as a mountain; (3) garimā - the ability to make oneself heavy, whereby the yogi is not moved by even the strongest of winds; (4) laghimā - the ability to make oneself light giving the yogi the ability to travel with a ray of light to the abode of Surya; (5) ishitva - the ability to create, sustain and destroy living and non-living entities; (6) vashitva - the ability to exert control over living and non-living entities; (7) prāpti - the ability to grasp, whereby a yogi can fetch objects that may be extremely far away; (8) prākāmya - the ability to make one’s wishes come true.

2. There are nine treasures kept by Kuber, the treasurer of the gods: kachchap, Mukund, Nand or kund, varchya, makar, neel, shankh, padma and mahā padma. They are all subservient to Lakshmiji. They are used by humans and the gods in different ways to bring happiness.

3. Chaturdhā refers to the four types of mukti: (1) reside in the realm of God, (2) stay near God, (3) assume a form similar to that of God, and (4) attain divine powers similar to God’s powers. - Vachanamrut Gadhada I-43.
