Bhakti

1. Shuk-Sankādik jevā je Motāpurush teni je sevā ne prasang temāthi māhātmye sahvartmān evi je bhakti te jivnā hrudaymā uday thāy chhe.

Bhakti coupled with the knowledge of God’s glory arises in one’s heart by serving and profoundly associating with eminent sādhus like Shukji and the Sanakādik.

2. Amāri sevā kartā hoy ne tenā hrudaymā jo Parameshwarni bhakti na hoy to te upar het karie toy pan na thāy. Ane jo Nāradji jevo gunvān hoy ne tene Bhagwānni bhakti na hoy to te amne na game.

A person may be serving me, but if there is no bhakti for God in his heart, I cannot develop a liking for him - even if I try. Even if he is as virtuous as Nāradji, if he lacks bhakti for God, I do not like him.

3. Mari to sarvene javu chhe pan āvi rite bhakti karvi e ja jivyāno moto lābh chhe.

Everyone must die someday, but to perform bhakti in this manner is the only great benefit of living.

4. Aksharabrahma-sādharmyam samprāpya dāsa-bhāvataha I
Purushottama-bhaktir hi muktir ātyantiki matā II

Aksharbrahmnu sādharmya prāpta kari Purushottamni dāsbhāve bhakti karvi e mukti mānvāmā āvi chhe.

Attaining oneness with Aksharbrahma and offering humble devotion to Purushottam is considered to be mukti.

5. Bhagwānni bhaktimā vighna tran motā, teni nondh:

(1) Potānā dosh na olkhāy.
(2) Bhagwānnā bhakta thaki man nokhu padi jāy.
(3) Bhagwānnā bhakta thaki beparvāi thai jāy.

6. Game tevā motā hoy tenu pan kusange karine to bhundu ja thāy chhe ane game tevo pāpi jiv hoy ne te jo satyaswarup evā je Bhagwān teno prasang kare to param pavitra thaine abhaypadne pāme.

No matter how great one may be, worldly influence only leads to harm. Conversely, regardless of how grave a sinner a person may be, if he maintains profound association with God - who is satya - then that person also becomes absolutely pure and attains liberation.

7. Jene satsangino paksh na hoy ane satsangi ne kusangine vishe sambhāv hoy to game tevo satsangmā moto kahevāto hoy pan ante jatā jarur vimukh thāy.

If a person does not have such Loyālty for satsangis and regards satsangis and kusangis as equal, then however highly he may be regarded in Satsang, he is sure to ultimately fall from Satsang.

8. Jo kusang male ne kusanginā vachanne vishe shraddhāvān thāy, to vairāgya- vivekādik je gun te sarve nāsh pāmi jāy chhe… Māte Bhagwānnā bhakta hoy tene koi divas kusang na karvo.

If he encounters evil company, and if he develops shraddhā in their words, then all of the virtues of vairāgya, wisdom, etc., would be destroyed… Therefore, a devotee of God should never keep bad company.

9. Bhakteshu dosha-drushtih syād avagunaika-bhāshakaha I
Manasvi yo guru-drohi na cha tat-sangam ācharet II

Je manushya bhaktomā dosh jonār, avagunni ja vāto karnār, manasvi ane gurudrohi hoy teno sang na karvo.

One should avoid the company of those who perceive drawbacks in devotees, speak only ill of others, are wilful or disobey the guru.

10. Kusangino sajjan koi sang, kare chade anga kusang rang;
Jo ujalu vastra vishesh hoy, kālu thashe kājal sang toy.

(A wicked person can never be a true companion, as their bad influence spreads; just as a white garment, no matter how bright, becomes stained with black when in contact with kohl (kājal).)

Sant Samāgam - Satsang

11. Satsangmā je Bhagwānni vārtā thāy tene dhāryā-vichāryā kare to ā Satsangno pratāp evo chhe je, je gunnā ghāt thatā hoy te ghātni tene nivrutti thai jāy chhe ane nirutthān thaine akhand Parameshwarnā swarupnu chintvan thāy chhe.

If a person examines the predominant guna under whose influence his thoughts arise andcontemplates on and imbibes the spiritual discourses which take place in Satsang, then the power of practicing satsang is such that any disturbing thoughts arising under the influence of the gunas are dispelled. Thereafter, becoming free from all doubts, he is able to continuously concentrate on the form of God.

12. Satsang na male tyā sudhi anant brahmāndano rājā hoy to pan tenu jivan alekhe chhe.

(Believe that you have achieved the most extraordinary attainment. It is right in your hands, so do not lose it. Safeguard it day and night. Reflect on it while asleep or awake (1). This satsang you have found is true, so keep a firm conviction of it within. Make sure other people's false wisdom does not have a bad influence on you (2). Having attained Parabrahma, know we have a huge fortune sitting in our hands. Otherwise, misery (in the form of weeds) will begin to grow - understand what I am trying to say (3). Today you have received true bliss and have avoided terrible pain. Nishkulānand Swāmi says to be careful not to give up this bliss (4).)

15. Balto jhalto ātmā Sant sarovar jāy;
Satsangrupi lahermā tarat tādho thāy.

(The cool waters of a serene lake can calm even the most scalding heat. Similarly, a soul burning with worldly desires and sufferings finds instant peace and relief in the soothing company of the Sant and the refreshing waves of Satsang.)

Abhāv-Avgun

16. Jenā haiyāmā Bhagwānni bhakti hoy ne Bhagwānno mahimā jānto hoy tene Bhagwānnā bhaktano avgun āve nahi ane Bhagwānnā bhakta upar risni ānti bandhāy ja nahi.

A person who possesses the bhakti of God in his heart and realizes the glory of God would never find a fault in a devotee of God, and he would never develop a spiteful obstinacy towards a devotee of God.

17. Jene Santno avgun āvyo te to nishchay Satsangthi jyāre-tyāre vimukh ja thāy, e enu māthu kapānu jānvu.

(Loyā 1: Krodhnu, Sampurna Satsang Thayānu)

A person who has perceived flaws in the Sant will certainly, at some time, fall from Satsang. He should be known to have his head severed.

18. Bhagwānnā bhaktano avgun āve tyāre temā gun hoy te vichārvā, to te avgun tali jāy, jem pāch ladvā āvyā hoy te sāmā pachās āve to tene hathāvi diye; tem gun to ghanāy hoy te vichārvā, to dosh thodā hoy te tali jāy.

When a flaw of a devotee is noticed, then think of his virtues so that thoughts of the flaw are eliminated. Just as, if five soldiers have come to fight and if fifty come to oppose them, they will certainly throw out the five. Similarly, there are many virtues and by thinking of them the few faults are discarded.

19-20. Jem nata chade vali vānsade, jovā male saghalu gām;
Pan nata na juve koine, jo juve to bagade kām.
Tem bhakti kartā bhaktane, nava jovā dosh adosh;
Gun avagun kenā gotatā, ati thāy apashoshha.

(Just as a magician performing on a high bamboo pole can see the entire audience, yet avoids focusing on anyone, for doing so would disrupt their performance and ruin the act (4). Similarly, a devotee, while engaging in devotion, should avoid focusing on others' faults or virtues. (It is good to recognize the virtues in others, but it should not become a burden trying to copy them. Instead, try to implement those virtues in your own unique way.) Imitating others or dwelling on their shortcomings only drains energy and leads to unnecessary regret (5).)

Divyabhāv

21. Bhagwānnā bhakta chhe te to keval Brahmni ja murtio chhe, ene vishe to manushyabhāv lāvavo ja nahi.

The Bhakta of God is indeed nothing but a form of Brahma. That is why one should never perceive human traits in him.

22. Bhagwān potānā divyabhāvno sankoch karine potānā bhaktane potāmā het thāy te sāru mānas jevā ja Bhagwān thāy chhe pan divyabhāv janāvtā nathi

(Panchālā 4: Manushyabhāvmā Divyabhāvnu)

God suppresses his divinity and becomes exactly like a human so that his devotees can develop affection for him. He does not exhibit his divinity.

23. Motāne vishe manushyabhāv nathi rahyo teno kem tapās karvo? E prashnano uttar karyo je, “Eni koi kriyāmā dosh na āve e ja divyabhāv chhe.”

How can one check to find out that one perceives no human traits in the great (Sadhu)? The answer, “Seeing no faults in any of his actions is to see divinity.

24. Harer gurosh-charitreshu divyeshu mānusheshu yah I
Sa-sneham divyatā-darshi kuryāt tat-sangam ādarāt II

Bhagwān ane gurunā divya tathā manushya charitromā je sneh-purvak divyatānu darshan karto hoy teno sang ādar thaki karvo.

One should respectfully associate with those who lovingly see divinity in both the divine and human-like actions of Bhagwān and the guru.
