અવતારો
વરાહાવતાર એ વિષ્ણુના મુખ્ય દશ અવતારોમાંનો ત્રીજો અવતાર છે. તે તત્ત્વતઃ ઈશ્વરચૈતન્ય છે. ઈશ્વરચૈતન્યમાં પરબ્રહ્મ પુરુષોત્તમનારાયણના અનુપ્રવેશથી આ અવતાર થાય છે. હિરણ્યાક્ષને મારવા માટે બ્રહ્માના નાકમાંથી આ અવતાર થયો અને તેને મારી નાખી પૃથ્વીનો ઉદ્ધાર કર્યો. ચાલુ કલ્પ શરૂ થતાં જ તેણે ઉત્પન્ન થઈ પૃથ્વીને સ્વસ્થાનમાં સ્થિત કરી. તેથી આ કલ્પનું નામ વરાહકલ્પ પડ્યું. તેના આદિવરાહ, યજ્ઞવરાહ ને શ્વેતવરાહ એવાં ત્રણ નામાંતરો છે. આ અવતાર ભાદરવા સુદિ ત્રીજના રોજ થયો હતો.

Varāh is the third avatār of Vishnu’s 10 foremost avatārs. In terms of the five eternal entities, Varāh is of the ishwar entity, which is capable of incarnation when Parabrahma Purushottam Narayan enters the ishwar.
This avatār was born through Brahmā’s nose. Its purpose was to kill Hiranyāksha and save Pruthvi. This avatār occurred at the beginning of the kalp and placed the Pruthvi in its rightful place. Therefore, that kalp is named as Varāh-kalp. The other names of the avatār are: Ādivarāh, Yagnavarāh, and Shwetvarāh. This avatār was born on Bhadarva sud 3.
