શાસ્ત્રોમાં આવતાં પાત્રો
પુરાણોની શૈલી પ્રમાણે જે કથા કરનારા હોય તે પ્રાયઃ સૂતપુરાણી કહેવાય છે. વચનામૃત ગઢડા મધ્ય ૧૬માં શૌનકાદિક અઠ્યાસી હજાર ઋષિઓ જે સૂતપુરાણીની કથા સાંભળે છે તે રોમહર્ષણ નામના એક પૌરાણિક કથા કહેનાર કે વાંચનાર પુરાણ વક્તા છે. તેઓ સૌત્તિ અથવા ઉગ્રશ્રવાના પિતા થાય. સ્વાભાવિક રીતે દરેક પુરાણમાં રોમહર્ષણ (સૂત) અથવા તેનો પુત્ર ઉગ્રશ્રવા (સૌત્તિ) કથા કહી રહ્યા છે એમ વર્ણવેલું છે.

According to the style of the Purāns, the one who delivers the kathā is referred to as Sutpurāni. In Vachanamrut Gadhada II-16, the Sutpurāni that Shaunak and the 88,000 other rishis are listening to is Romharshan, one of the speakers or listeners of the Purān scriptures. He is the father of Sautti or Ugrashravā. In each Purān, it has been described that Romharshan (Sut) and his son Ugrashravā (Sautti) are engaged in the kathā.
