હિરણ્યકશિપુ
શાસ્ત્રોમાં આવતાં પાત્રો
હિરણ્યકશિપુ કશ્યપ ઋષિ અને દિતિનો પુત્ર હતો. તે રાક્ષસ હતો. તેનો ભાઈ હિરણ્યાક્ષ હતો, જેણો વધ વિષ્ણુએ વારાહ અવતાર ધરીને કરેલો. તેથી તેણે વિષ્ણુ સાથે વૈર બંધાયું. વિષ્ણુને મારવા તપ કરીને બ્રહ્માને પ્રસન્ન કરી વરદાન મેળવ્યું હતું, જેમ કે આકાશમાં અથવા પૃથ્વી પર ના મરે, અસ્ત્ર-શસ્ત્રથી ના મરે, દિવસે કે રાત્રે ના મરે, અંદર ના મરે અને બહાર ના મરે. પછી તેણે ત્રિલોકીમાં હાહાકાર મચાવ્યો. તેનો પુત્ર પ્રહ્લાદ વિષ્ણુનો ભક્ત હતો. તેને મારી નાંખવા ઘણા પ્રયત્નો કર્યા, પન તે ન મરાયા અને છેવટે ભગવાન નૃસિંહે પ્રગટ થઈ તેના વરદાનમાં બાધ ન આવે તેમ તેનો સંહાર કર્યો.
હિરણ્યાક્ષ અને હિરણ્યકશિપુ બંન્ને ભાઈઓ વિષ્ણુલોકમાં વિષ્ણુના દ્વારપાલ હતા. તેમણે સનકાદિકનો દ્રોહ કર્યો અને અસુરયોનિને પામ્યા. આ તેમણો પહેલો જન્મ હતો.
Hiranyakashipu

Hiranyakashipu was the son of Kashyap Rishi and Diti. He was demonic in nature. His brother was Hiranyāksha, who was killed by Vishnu as the Vārāh avatār. He developed animosity toward Vishnu and performed penance to please Brahmā to kill Vishnu. He attained a boon that he would not die in the air or on the earth, with weapons, at day or night, inside or outside, etc. Becoming invincible, he struck terror in the three worlds and took control. His son was Prahlād who was a devotee of Vishnu. He tried to kill his son because he worshiped his enemy. However, Vishnu protected him and killed Hiranyakashipu by manifesting from a pillar as the Nrusinha avatār.
The two brothers, Hiranyāksha and Hiranyakashipu, were the gatekeepers of Vishnu in Vishnu-lok. They maligned the Sanakādik. In turn, they were cursed to be born as demons on the earth. This was their first birth.
