Vachanamrut Essence

Loyā-1

  1. Anger:
  1. Shriji Mahārāj has an intense enmity toward anger.
  2. It makes the person appear ugly and makes one fall from the path of a sādhu.
  3. Even slight anger is a source of extreme misery.
  1. Means to overcoming lust:
  1. Firm ātmā-realisation, firmness in observing the five religious vows [panch-vartmān], and fully understanding the greatness of God.
  2. Punishing the indriyas with austerities and the antahkaran with a thought process when they behave immorally.
  1. Characteristics of devotees possessing the three levels of vairāgya:
  1. Lowest level: If he were to see a woman’s body, then his mind would get attached to that body, and he would not remain stable.
  2. Intermediate level: If he were to see a naked woman, then no disturbance would arise in his mind.
  3. Highest level: If he were to come across women and other worldly objects even in solitude, he would not be enticed.
  1. Characteristics of devotees possessing the three levels of gnān:
  1. Lowest level: When he does not see God display powers, or when nothing untoward happens to an evil person who maligns God, then his conviction would not remain.
  2. Intermediate level: When he sees pure and impure - seemingly human - actions of God, he would be deluded by them, and his conviction of God would not remain.
  3. Highest level: He would not be deluded even after seeing any type of pure or impure actions performed by God. Moreover, even if the person who initially convinced him of God loses conviction, his conviction would not diminish.
  1. A person whose antahkaran burns due to the enemies of lust, anger, etc., would not believe himself to be fulfilled - even if he has faith in God.
  2. Characteristics of one who has developed complete satsang:
  1. Has extremely firm ātmā-realisation.
  2. Does not believe the actions of the body, indriyas, etc., to be his own.
  3. Behaves as brahmarup.
  4. Is firm in observance of the five religious vows and staunchly worships God maintaining a master-servant relationship.
  5. Realises the manifest form of God to be absolutely unaffected and understands His immense greatness.
  6. Serves God’s devotees menially.
  1. Greatness of the Sant:
  1. The Sant follows the path of dharma.
  2. When the Sant sees a person treading the path of adharma, he rebukes that person. As a result, a person who identifies his self with the body will not know how to accept the advice positively and will harbour an aversion towards the Sant.
  3. One who harbours an aversion towards the Sant is unable to become pure by any form of atonement.
  4. He who perceives flaws in the Sant has had his head severed; he will certainly fall from Satsang.
  1. If one has perceived flaws in the Sant, then the method to atone is:
  1. Maintaining intense shraddhā.
  2. Experiencing extreme remorse.
  3. Intensely perceiving virtues in the Sant.
  4. Pleasing the Sant with absolute humility.
