  1. Factors that lead to the development of dharma, gnān, vairāgya, and bhakti:
  1. Dharma: Listening to the Smruti scriptures.
  2. Gnān: Listening to the scriptures from a Satpurush.
  3. Vairāgya: Knowing the four types of dissolution and the lifespans of all the jivas.
  4. Bhakti: Listening to talks of God and God’s abode with a sense of awe.
  1. One becomes firm in observance of dharma first, then if one listens to scriptures that explain upāsanā, then gnān, bhakti, and vairāgya develop.
