Vachanamrut Essence

Gadhadā II-10

  1. Those who do not have bhakti for God will understand God to be formless even after reading scriptures that proclaim God has a form.
  2. God has a form because:
  1. Only one who has a form can create something [the whole creation] that possesses a form.
  2. Bhagwān pervades all through His antaryāmi power, but in his abode Akshardhām, He forever possesses a divine form.
  1. Just as a woman who carries a foetus in her womb attains a child, one who carries a foetus in the form of faith in God attains God’s Akshardhām.
  2. Of the three – gnān, vairāgya, and bhakti – the greatest means for developing affection for God is bhakti.
  3. Bhakti:
  1. Is to realise the redemptive virtues in God and to seek His firm refuge.
  2. Is perceiving divinity even in human-like actions of the manifest God.
  3. Having such understanding [as described in 5a and 5b] is known as having bhakti towards God.
  4. One who offers bhakti in this manner can be called a true devotee.
  5. Such bhakti is itself the highest state of enlightenment.
