Vachanamrut Essence

Gadhadā II-55

  1. Shriji Mahārāj speaks about His inclinations for the sake of revealing the ideals of a devotee:
  1. In His childhood: Going to mandirs for darshan, listening to spiritual discourses, keeping the company of sādhus, and going on pilgrimages.
  2. When He renounced His home: Did not like to keep clothes and liked to stay in the forest without fear.
  3. After joining Satsang:
  1. He constantly has the thought that death is impending [and thus He doesn’t have an interest in objects or worldly life.]
  2. Constantly feels that māyik objects are perishable and insignificant.
  3. All of His activities are for the sake of the devotees of God; but not for His own personal enjoyment.
  4. He keeps a little fear for the benefit of Satsang.
  5. A thought remains within His heart that: “I am the ātmā, distinct from the body; I am not like this body.” Also, His mind is always cautious, lest a portion of māyā in the form of rajogun, tamogun, etc. infiltrate My ātmā! He is constantly vigilant of that.
  1. The mind, hands, speech, ears, and other indriyas of an ekāntik bhakta always perform activities related to God.
  2. The heart is the form of a goldsmith’s workshop. The māyā, in the form of the goldsmith, who uses deceit for the sake of the indriyas and antahakaran, in the form of the goldsmith’s wife and children, steals the virtues of gnān, vairāgya, etc., in the form of gold, from the ātmā and replaces it with māyik flaws [the three gunas, attachment to panchvishays, etc.] in the form of silver.
  3. Just as gold can be purified from the silver that is mixed with it, the jiva should be filtered from the māyik flaws by contemplating on one’s ātmā; and one should remain vigilant that the māyik flaws are not mixed with the jiva again.
