Vachanamrut Essence

Gadhadā III-1

  1. If one has firm ātmā-realisation and firm vairāgya, then no obstacles due to adverse circumstances will come in the way of one’s bhakti.
  2. Due to firm ātmā-realisation, the māyik pleasures are negated; and due to firm vairāgya, all forms except for God’s form and all vishays are negated.
  3. One who has an inclination of gnān:
  1. Understands the profound greatness of God.
  2. Understands God to be antaryāmi.
  3. Understands that God recognises a devotee’s inclination and speaks to him accordingly, but He does not act based on others’ advice.
  1. One who has an inclination of affection:
  1. Cannot stay without God even for a moment.
  2. Would be willing to do whatever is necessary for God.
  3. Would never develop anger or jealousy toward or perceive a fault in God or His devotees.
  1. One who perceives faults in God does not possess either the inclination of gnān or affection.
  2. One should read the Shikshāpatri daily.
