Vachanamrut Essence

Amdāvād-8

  1. Anger destroys virtues such as chanting God’s name, austerities, gnān, etc.; therefore, sādhus should conquer anger.
  2. Causes of anger: during question-answer session, argumentative discussion, giving or taking some objects, reprimanding someone, maintaining partiality toward one’s attendant, when insulted, by jealousy, possessiveness for one’s accommodation, when unequally distributing prasād, etc.
  3. When one becomes angry or develops angry thoughts toward anyone, then considering the person to be a devotee of God and discarding one’s ego, one should bow down to them and pray.
  4. By atoning this way, God becomes pleased, one’s antahkaran becomes pure, and all vicious natures are eradicated.
