  1. Characteristics of a ‘yati’:
  1. He firmly observes brahmacharya.
  2. He has control over all his indriyas.
  3. Even if he is faced with a situation that would cause his antahkaran to become impure, his antahkaran still remains pure.
  1. Characteristics of the jiva:
  1. It is uncuttable, unpierceable, immortal, chaitanya, and the size of an anu [atom-like].
  2. It resides in the hrudayākāsh and performs different functions.
  3. It pervades the entire body from head to toe; yet it is distinct from it.
  4. By the grace of the manifest form of God, one can see the jiva.
