Vachanamrut Essence
Gadhadā I-36
- Just as a wealthy man views a poor man to be a sinner, the great Ekāntik Sant views a renunciant who craves materialistic pleasures to be a sinner.
- A renunciant who is like a poor man:
- Does not have affection for dharma, gnān, vairāgya and bhakti.
- Develops affection for perishable objects instead of God.
- His thirst for materialistic pleasures never abates.
- A true renunciant:
- Views dirt and gold as equal.
- Never makes distinctions by thinking, “This object is pleasant, and this object is unpleasant.”
- Has affection only toward God.
