Gadhadā I-37

  1. Methods of abandoning affection for one’s birthplace:
  1. Believe one’s self to be the ātmā.
  2. View the relationships of the current body to be similar to the relationships of previous births.
  3. Just as the parents of the previous births have been forgotten due to ignorance, similarly the parents of this human body should be forgotten through knowledge.
  1. Shriji Mahārāj speak of his nature for the sake of revealing the ideals of a devotee:
  1. He has no affection toward any of His relatives.
  2. Even if he is as virtuous as Nāradji, if he lacks bhakti for God, He does not like him.
  1. For a person who has bhakti for God in his heart, understands God to be sākār and all-doer, Shriji Mahārāj bestows him 11 honours:
  1. He is dear to Mahārāj.
  2. Kāl is unable to administer its power over him.
  3. Karma is unable to administer its power over him.
  4. Māyā is unable to administer its power over him.
  5. Mahārāj places the dust of his feet on His head.
  6. Mahārāj is afraid of harming him.
  7. Mahārāj longs for his darshan.
  8. He is wise because he wishes for liberation through the grace of God.
  9. After leaving his body, he attain a form of chaitanya in the abode of God and forever remain in His service.
  10. The darshan of such a true Bhakta of God is equivalent to the darshan of God Himself.
  11. He is so great that his darshan alone can redeem countless wretched jivas.
