Vachanamrut Essence
Gadhadā I-40
- One who has attained savikalp samādhi still entertains pure desires.
- One who has attained nirvikalp samādhi remains engrossed in the form of God, having attained the attributes of Aksharbrahma.
- Difference between bhakti and upāsanā:
- Bhakti means worshipping God in the nine ways [mentioned in the Shrimad Bhagwat: (1) shravan, (2) kirtan, (3) smaran, (4) pāda-sevan, (5) archan, (6) vandan, (7) dāsya, (8) sakhya, (9) ātmanivedan].
- Upāsanā means having a firm conviction that God eternally possesses a form.
- Characteristics of one with upāsanā:
- Even if he becomes brahmarup, conviction that God possesses a form never disappears.
- Even if he happens to listen to scriptures propounding the view that God is formless, he would still understand God to always have a form.
