Vachanamrut Essence

Gadhadā I-72

  1. One who has faith in God coupled with the knowledge of His greatness:
  1. Realises the greatness of the sādhus and satsangis.
  2. Cannot be harmed by both kāl and karma.
  3. Extolls the human-like actions of God perceiving them to be divine.
  4. Understands in this manner:
  1. From the very day I had the darshan of God, my liberation has been guaranteed.
  2. Any jiva who has my darshan or accepts my advice will assuredly be redeemed.
  1. He believed himself to be fulfilled.
  2. Whatever spiritual endeavours he performs is solely to please God.
  3. He attains the highest state of enlightenment.
  1. One who is a non-believer or one who does not have a firm conviction in God:
  1. Does not benefit in any way, even if God wishes to do good for that person.
  2. Perceives flaws in God when He performs human-like actions.
  3. Remains doubtful that “I have met God but will I be liberated or not?”
  1. God becomes like a human and exhibits human-like swabhāvs:
  1. To give devotees the bliss of His darshan and service.
  2. To liberate countless jivas.
  1. To realise all of God’s actions and incidents as redemptive is the very dharma of a devotee, and only one who understands this can be called a perfect devotee of God.
  2. Behaving this way, one incurs a sin equivalent to killing a Brāhmin:
  1. Oppressing the meek.
  2. Making false allegations against someone.
  3. Forcing five types of women to lapse in their dharma.
  1. Three types of devotees:
  1. Greatest devotee:
  1. Believes himself to be the ātmā, distinct from his body and sees God dwelling within his ātmā.
  2. Realises God and the Sant of God to be superior to ātmā-realisation.
  3. Harbours not even the slightest conceit of the ātmā-realisation he has attained.
  1. Average devotee: despite having knowledge of the ātmā and faith in God, becomes jealous of God and devotees of God and perceives faults in them.
  2. Lowest type:
  1. Does not have ātmā-realisation.
  2. Has affection for God as well as for the affairs of this world.
  3. Having affection for affairs of this world, experiences joy and grief in the affairs of this world.
