Vachanamrut Essence
Gadhadā I-72
- One who has faith in God coupled with the knowledge of His greatness:
- Realises the greatness of the sādhus and satsangis.
- Cannot be harmed by both kāl and karma.
- Extolls the human-like actions of God perceiving them to be divine.
- Understands in this manner:
- From the very day I had the darshan of God, my liberation has been guaranteed.
- Any jiva who has my darshan or accepts my advice will assuredly be redeemed.
- He believed himself to be fulfilled.
- Whatever spiritual endeavours he performs is solely to please God.
- He attains the highest state of enlightenment.
- One who is a non-believer or one who does not have a firm conviction in God:
- Does not benefit in any way, even if God wishes to do good for that person.
- Perceives flaws in God when He performs human-like actions.
- Remains doubtful that “I have met God but will I be liberated or not?”
- God becomes like a human and exhibits human-like swabhāvs:
- To give devotees the bliss of His darshan and service.
- To liberate countless jivas.
- To realise all of God’s actions and incidents as redemptive is the very dharma of a devotee, and only one who understands this can be called a perfect devotee of God.
- Behaving this way, one incurs a sin equivalent to killing a Brāhmin:
- Oppressing the meek.
- Making false allegations against someone.
- Forcing five types of women to lapse in their dharma.
- Three types of devotees:
- Greatest devotee:
- Believes himself to be the ātmā, distinct from his body and sees God dwelling within his ātmā.
- Realises God and the Sant of God to be superior to ātmā-realisation.
- Harbours not even the slightest conceit of the ātmā-realisation he has attained.
- Average devotee: despite having knowledge of the ātmā and faith in God, becomes jealous of God and devotees of God and perceives faults in them.
- Lowest type:
- Does not have ātmā-realisation.
- Has affection for God as well as for the affairs of this world.
- Having affection for affairs of this world, experiences joy and grief in the affairs of this world.
