Gadhada II-21: The Main Principle

Prasang

Prasang 1

Samvat 1972, Nadiād. Dolatrambhāi invited Shāstriji Mahārāj, Nirgundās Swāmi, and other sadhus to his house. Dolatrāmbhāi was going to have darshan of Swāmishri after ten years of separation from Vartāl. He was overjoyed to meet Swāmishri again.

He held Swāmishri’s hand and said, “Swāmi, this house is consecrated. My father had served food to Gunātitānand Swāmi, Gopālānand Swāmi, and other great sadgurus. He took the water from their pattar, spread it in the street, covered it with dirt, did his construction on it; this is how holy this place is.”

Swāmishri was pleased to hear this and said, “Your father understood the greatness of Gunātitānand Swāmi. The year Swāmi left for dhām, he had Swāmi bless this house.”

Dolatrāmbhāi then offered dhotiyā to the sadhus.

He then asked, “Swāmi, do you have thoughts of reuniting with Vartāl?”

Swāmishri immediately replied, “Yes, if they accept Vachanāmrut Gadhada II-21, we are not opposed to reuniting.”

Dolatrāmbhāi was impressed with Swāmishri’s answer, which was devoid of any selfish motives. He said, “Swāmiji, I know you well enough to know that you would not separate without a good reason. So first, tell me what principle have you understood from Gadhada II-21.” Swāmishri explained the principle of Akshar-Purushottam based on this Vachanāmrut.

Realizing the truth in Swāmishri’s explanation, Dolatrāmbhāi exclaimed, “Swāmiji, had you not done this, Mahārāj would have to come on the earth as another avatār to do it! Today, you have installed Mahārāj and Swāmi’s murtis made of metal, but in the future, your devotees will install your murti made of gold.”

Samvat 1972, Sārangpur. Thakor Saheb of Limdi requested Shāstriji Mahārāj to install the murtis of Rādhā-Krishna in the central shrine instead of the murtis of Akshar-Purushottam. Shāstriji Mahārāj boldly replied, “We have shaved our head (become sadhus) for Akshar-Purushottam.” Subdued by this answer, Thakor Saheb simply folded his hands.

Swāmishri assumed his gentle nature and said, “Whoever is the object of their upāsanā, they install their form and do pujan, archan, and dhyān; otherwise, he is not a genuine upāsak. Shriji Mahārāj has shown us the path of liberation in Vachanāmrut Gadhada II-21 so that we can become true upāsaks. Accordingly, the extent of greatness we understand of the non-manifest avatārs, such as Ram, Krishna, etc., and their bhaktas, such as Nārad, Sanakādik, Uddhav, Hanuman, etc., the same extent should be understood of the manifest Bhagwān Sahajānand Swāmi and his bhakta Aksharbrahman Shri Gunātitānand Swāmi. If one understands this much, they have attained the main principle of liberation. This is our true upāsanā. Hence, we have to understand the greatness of Swāmi and Nārāyan, or Akshar and Purushottam.

“Shriji Mahārāj manifested on this earth and established ekāntik dharma to liberate countless jivas. He also brought with him 500 ekāntik paramhansas. Even today, He left an Ekāntik Satpurush, who has a direct relationship with him, for his followers. One should recognize that Ekāntik Satpurush by his qualities and seek his refuge, so that one will develop firm conviction of Mahārāj. Sanskārs are only obtained from the relationship with and serving a Satpurush. The ultimate goal of this human birth is to imbibe ekāntik dharma by the association of a genuine Satpurush.”

[Brahmaswarup Shāstriji Mahārāj: 1/427]
