Panchala-6: Those with Firm Upāsanā Attain Liberation

Prasang

In 1881 (VS 1937), Acharya Vihārilālji Mahārāj sent Bhagatji Mahārāj to Nadiād with Bhumānand Swāmi. While Bhagatji and Bhumānand Swāmi were in Nadiād, someone asked a question in the assembly about avatārs (incarnations) and the avatāri (source of the incarnations). No one was able to provide a satisfactory answer, so Bhumānand Swāmi said, “Call Prāgji Bhakta here; he will be able to answer the question.”

Bhagatji had Panchālā 6 read and then explained, “Shriji Mahārāj has spoken about his own form in this Vachanāmrut, using the guise of Shri Krishna. He has said, ‘It has become apparent that there has not been any avatār as powerful as Shri Krishna, because Shri Krishna exhibited in various ways the characteristics of all of the other countless forms of himself.’

“The authors of the shāstras have also agreed on this. This is evident because the form of Parabrahman Purushottam has been described in these shāstras as powerful, miraculous, brilliant, valiant, and lustrous as well as possessing many other characteristics. The Vedas also sing the glory of that form. The power, miracles, lustre, and characteristics of the form of Purushottam were seen in Shri Krishna and not seen or even heard of in the previous incarnations. At that time, there was no form as powerful as his and hence everyone proclaimed that Shri Krishna is the Purushottam Parabrahman described in the shāstras.

“However, Shriji Mahārāj also exhibited many divine exploits during his stay on earth. He manifested the 24 incarnations from his own form and then merged them back into his own form. He displayed these extraordinary miraculous powers to Parvatbhāi, Swarupānand Swāmi, and Vyāpkānand Swāmi. Moreover, he granted samādhi to numerous spiritual aspirants; and during that samādhi, he showed them their chosen deities in their respective abodes. He also made tens of thousands of people free from the bondage of the sense pleasures and attached them to his form. There are those who saw Mahārāj’s life with their own eyes. There are also those who have heard about his life from the eminent people in Satsang. By faith in the words of these people, it is obvious that the characteristics of Purushottam Parabrahman mentioned in the shāstras are present in Shriji Mahārāj. Therefore, Shriji Mahārāj is Parabrahman Purushottam. Mahārāj has further revealed in this Vachanāmrut, ‘That avatār [Shri Krishna] reigns as supreme. Only some powers have been revealed through the other avatārs. This avatār [referring to himself] however, has revealed all divine powers and strength.’ Therefore, Mahārāj’s incarnation is the greatest of all. Mahārāj mentions further in this Vachanāmrut, that one should keep faith towards the pratyaksh (manifest) form of Shri Krishna. This is because only this (manifest) incarnation is supreme and only this (manifest) incarnation has displayed all of the divine powers. Thus, Shriji Mahārāj alone is supreme, Parabrahman Purushottam, and the cause of all incarnations.”

Bhagatji’s precise explanation totally convinced all the sadhus and devotees who were present in the assembly that the source of all incarnations was none other than Shriji Mahārāj himself.
