Gadhada I-1: Continuously Engaging One’s Mind on God

Nirupan

At 5:45 pm at Patel Samāj, on the last day of the pārāyan, Yogiji Mahārāj had Gadhadā I-1 read and explained, “We read the first Vachanāmrut. The last question is by Harji Thakkar. We have been practicing satsang for a very long time, yet why do we not develop intense love? Everyone has superficial love. But how do we develop abundant love for the Sant? Mahārāj answers that we find faults in the one who speaks to us - the Sant. Therefore, we do not develop intense love for him. The Sant speaks to us so that we can eradicate our swabhāvs. If we maintain divinity in that, then intense love develops.

“We need to have constant love for God and the Sant. How much do we love our social affairs? Our son?

“In Bhāl desh, there was a darbār named Mulubhā. His son’s hand was crushed in the door hinge. The darbār screamed when that happened. The son himself did not say anything. Someone asked the darbār, ‘Why did you scream?’ That is because of intense love.

“We should develop intense love for God and the Sant. Only then will we attain ultimate liberation. We will talk about that level of intense love:

“Mahārāj wrote a letter to 18 devotees: ‘Drop all of your work and leave at once wherever you are. Go to Jetalpur and receive dikshā from Rāmdās Swāmi, then come to Bhuj.’

“This letter reached Surā, Alaiyā, Māmaiyā and other great darbārs; it reached Dosābhāi of Bandhiyā and others. Everyone readily left at once. Kalyāndās (nephew of Ajā Patel of Methān) was getting married when the letter reached Ajā Patel. Mahārāj did not write Kalyāndās’s name but wrote ‘vagere’ (etcetera). Kalyāndās said he was included in ‘vagere’ and told the brahmin to stop the wedding. He had went around the fire three times. Before the fourth turn, he left (to become a sadhu).

“This has never happened in Hindustan before. All got their dikshā and went to Bhuj. Mahārāj went to meet them and said, ‘Oh! You all followed my command!’ Mahārāj was one gāu (3.2 km) away and went to meet them. The eighteen were prostrating while coming to meet Mahārāj. Mahārāj embraced them and tears rolled from his eyes. Kalyāndās did an amazing thing so he named him Adbhutānand.

“There were two darbārs from the village of Alaiyā who received this letter. Their mother said, ‘Reap the cotton from our 200 acres of land before you go.’ Both thought that that would take too long and Mahārāj’s commands come instantly. They called a shepherd and told him to let their 200 cows loose in the field. In this way, they let their crop get ruined and told their mother that they filled their room with the crop. The mother said, ‘Now you can go.’ One was taking off the garmet he was wearing. The other said, ‘Do we have to wear it again?’ They tore it off and left.

“This is intense love. We should think if we have developed love of this level. If so, then we rank first. If not, we should... Whether we have been schooled little or a lot; whether we have great skills or poor skills; whether we earn a lot or little - none of that matters. God and the Sant want to give us food, so they will.”
