અવતારો
હયગ્રીવ એ વિષ્ણુના ચોવીશ અવતારોમાંનો એક અવતાર છે. તે તત્ત્વતઃ જીવચૈતન્ય છે. જીવચૈતન્યમાં પરબ્રહ્મ પુરુષોત્તમનારાયણના અનુપ્રવેશથી આ અવતાર થાય છે. માણસના જેવી આકૃતિનું ધડ અને ઘોડાની જેવી આકૃતિનું મોઢું ધરાવતો ભગવાનનો અવતાર હયગ્રીવ અવતાર ગણાય છે. મધુકૈટભ નામનો દૈત્ય વેદને પાતાળમાં ચોરી ગયો હતો, તેનો સંહાર કરી ભગવાને બ્રહ્માને વેદ પાછા આપ્યા હતા. આ અવતાર શ્રાવણ સુદિ પૂર્ણિમાને રોજ થયો હતો.
નોંધ: હયગ્રીવ એક દાનવનું પણ નામ છે, જેણે બ્રહ્માના મુખમાંથી સરી પડેલા વેદોને પાતાળમાં લઈ ગયો હતો. ભગવાને મત્સ્ય અવતાર ધરીને તેનો સંહાર કર્યો અને વેદો પાછા લાવ્યા. શ્રીજી મહારાજે હયગ્રીવ નામના દાનવનો ઉલ્લેખ વચનામૃતમાં કર્યો નથી.
Hayagriva

Hayagriva is one of the 24 avatārs of Vishnu. In terms of entities, Hayagriva incarnated from a jiva. When Parabrahma Purushottam Narayan enters the jiva entity, it is capable of incarnating as an avatār.
He has the head of a man and the body of a horse. A demon named Madhukaitabh stole the Vedas and hid in Pātāl. Hayagriva slayed Madhukaitabh and returned the Vedas to Brahmā. This avatār was born on Shravan sud 15.
Note: Hayagriva is also the name of a demon who took the Vedas that slipped from Brahmāji’s mouth while he was sleeping. God assumed the Matsya avatār to kill him and returned them. Shriji Maharaj has not mentioned the demon Hayagriva in the Vachanamrut.
