ઈશ્વરો
સૃષ્ટિના પ્રારંભે વિરાટપુરુષના લલાટમાંથી શિવ પ્રગટ થયા હતા. તે તત્ત્વતઃ ઈશ્વરચૈતન્ય છે અને પરબ્રહ્મ પુરુષોત્તમ નારાયણના અનુપ્રવેશથી સામર્થ્ય પ્રાપ્ત કરે છે. શિવજી હંમેશાં કૈલાસમાં પાર્વતી અને પોતાના પુત્રો ગણેશ અને કાર્તિકેય સાથે વસે છે. તેઓ જગતનો પ્રલય કરે છે અને તમોગુણપ્રધાન દેવ છે. તેઓ હંમેશાં ધ્યાનમગ્ન રહેનાર મહાયોગી અને મહાતપસ્વી પણ છે. કંઠમાં સર્પની માળા ધારણ કરે છે. શૃંગી, ડમરુ, રણશિંગુ વગેરે તેમનાં વાદ્યો છે. ત્રિશૂળ, પિનાકધનુષ્ય આયુધ છે. તેમનું વાહન નંદી છે. સ્વભાવે બહુ ભોળા અને દયાળુ છે. તેઓ સહજ પ્રાર્થનાથી રાજી થઈ જાય છે, તેથી તેમને આશુતોષ પણ કહેવામાં આવે છે. તેમના ભાલમાં ભ્રમરોની વચ્ચે ત્રીજું લોચન પણ છે. તેઓ મહાદેવ તરીકે પણ ઓળખાય છે. શિવજી હિંદુધર્મના પ્રમુખ દેવતાઓમાંના એક છે. સમગ્ર ભારતમાં ભગવાન શિવજીનાં ઘણાં મંદિરો છે. તેમાં બાર સ્વયંભૂ જ્યોતિર્લિંગ અતિશય પ્રસિદ્ધ છે.

Ishwars
Shiva was born from the forehead of Virat-Purush during the beginning of the creation phase. Of the five eternal entities, he belongs to the ishwar category. He gains his powers when Purushottam Narayan enters and inspires him to engage in his activities. He resides in Kailās with his consort Pārvati and sons Ganesh and Kārtikeya. He is responsible for destruction in the world. He is predominantly a tamo-gun ishwar. He remains engrossed in meditation and has a form of a great yogi and an ascetic. He has a serpent wrapped around his neck. His instruments are: shrungi, damaru, and a ran-shingu (war-horn). His weapons are a trident and a bow. His vehicle is Nandi. He is easily pleased and compassionate; therefore, he is known as Āshutosh. He has a third eye on his forehead between the eyebrows. He is also known as Mahādev. In the Hindu faith, he is among the most well-known deities. There are many mandirs dedicated to him in all of Bharat. Most well known among them are the 12 Swayambhu Jyotirling.
