તુંબરુ એક દેવગાંધર્વ છે. બ્રહ્માના માનસપુત્ર મરીચિનાં પત્ની પ્રધા થકી તેનો જન્મ થયો હતો. તેની સ્ત્રીનું નામ રંભા હતું. તેઓ ચાર ભાઈ હતા: તુંબરુ, બાહુ, હાહા, અને હૂહૂ. તે ગાનવિદ્યામાં પ્રવીણ હતો. વૈકુંઠમાં લક્ષ્મીનારાયણ દેવને પ્રસન્ન કરેલા. ચૈત્ર માસના ધાતા નામના સૂર્યની સાથે સંચાર કરનાર ગણમાં આ ગંધર્વ છે.

Tumbaru is one of the dev-gāndharva (a celestial being talented in singing). He was born from Brahma’s human son Marichi and his wife Pradhā. His wife’s name was Rambhā. He had three brothers: Bāhu, Hāhā, and Huhu. He was talented in singing. He had pleased Lakshminārāyan Dev in Vaikunth. This gāndharva passes from one sign of the zodiac to another along with the Chaitra month sun named Dhātā.
