મુનિબાવા
પરમહંસો
મહાસમર્થ વિદ્વાન મુનિબાવા વ્યાકરણના મહાન પંડિત હતા. ‘ષડ્દર્શનાચાર્ય’ અને ‘વેદાંતાચાર્ય’ની ઉપાધિઓ તેમણે પ્રાપ્ત કરેલી. તેઓ વચનસિદ્ધ યોગી હતા. અરદેશર કોટવાળ (પારસી)ના ગુરુ હતા. પોતાના આશ્રમમાં એક વિશાળ પાઠશાળા હતી, જેમાં તે વિદ્યાર્થીઓ અને સંન્યાસીઓને ભણાવતા. પોતે અદ્વૈતવાદી હોવાથી સાકારપણાનું ખંડન કરે. કાઠિયાવાડમાં જીવન્મુક્તા પ્રગટ્યા છે તે સાંભળી સભામાં મહારાજનું ખંડન કરે.
બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામી મહારાજની આજ્ઞાથી મુનિબાવા પાસેથી સંન્યાસીનો વેષ ધારી ‘સિદ્ધાંત કૌમુદી’ ભણ્યા. બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામીની બુદ્ધિ-શક્તિથી પ્રભાવિત થઈ તેઓ તેમને પોતાની ગાદીનો વહીવટ સોંપવા તૈયાર થઈ ગયા. બ્રહ્માનંદ સ્વામીએ તેમને શ્રીજીમહારાજ પ્રગટ ભગવાન છે તેમ ઓળખાણ કરાવી. તેઓ મહારાજનાં દર્શન કરવા ગઢપુર આવ્યા, પણ મહારાજે મનુષ્યલીલા કરી અને તેમની સામે જોયું પણ નહીં. તેથી તેઓ સુરત જવા તૈયાર થયા, પણ મહારાજે ઐશ્વર્ય બતાવ્યું અને સમાધિ કરાવી તો રોકાઈ ગયા. મહારાજ પાસે દીક્ષા લીધી. મહારાજે તેમનું એ જ નામ રાખી તેમને સુરત તેમના જ આશ્રમમાં રહેવા આજ્ઞા કરી. મુનિબાવા સુરતમાં પોતાના આશ્રમમાં રહી સૌને મહારાજનો મહિમા કહેતા. સં. ૧૯૦૪માં તેઓ ધામમાં પધાર્યા હતા.

An eminent scholar, Munibāwā was a pundit of Vyākaran. He held titles as a Shad-darshanāchāyra and Vedantāchārya. He was a yogi whose words came true. He was the guru of Ardeshar Kotwāl, the Pārsi devotee of Shriji Maharaj. He had a large school in his āshram in which he taught students and sannyāsis. He believed in the Advait philosophy; therefore, he denounced the belief that God possesses a definite form. On learning that ‘Jivanmuktā’ has manifested in Kāthiyāwād, he openly denounced Maharaj in his assemblies.
Maharaj commanded Brahmānand Swāmi to learn Siddhānt Kaumudi from Munibāwā. He was impressed by Brahmānand Swāmi’s intelligence and was ready to make him his successor. Brahmānand Swāmi gradually explained the greatness of Shriji Maharaj to Munibāwā while he was learning under him. Munibāwā agreed to go for Maharaj’s darshan in Gadhpur. However, when he arrived, Maharaj did not look at him. Hurt by Maharaj’s human action, he was ready to leave for Surat. Then, Maharaj showed his powers and granted him samādhi. He stayed and got dikshā from Maharaj. Maharaj kept his name the same and commanded him to continue to stay in his āshram in Surat. Munibāwā openly preached the greatness of Maharaj in his āshram. He passed away in Samvat 1904.
