રાધિકાજી
શાસ્ત્રોમાં આવતાં પાત્રો
એક વાર ગોલોકમાં શ્રીકૃષ્ણ ભગવાન રાધિકા સાથે વિહાર કરી રહ્યા હતા. થોડાક જ સમયમાં કૃષ્ણ રાધાને છોડીને વિરજા ગોપી પાસે વિહાર કરવા જતા રહ્યા. આથી રાધિકા પણ ક્રોધયુક્ત થઈ એમની પાછળ ગયાં. વિરજાના મહેલના દ્વાર પર શ્રીદામા દ્વારપાળને અયોગ્ય વચન કહી રાધિકાએ અંદર પ્રવેશ કરવા આગ્રહ કર્યો. આ કોલાહલ જાણી શ્રીકૃષ્ણ ત્યાંથી અદૃશ્ય થઈ ગયા અને વિરજા પણ નદીરૂપે બની ગઈ. થોડા સમય પછી કૃષ્ણ રાધાના મહેલમાં શ્રીદામા સાથે ગયા ત્યારે રાધાજીએ ગુસ્સે થઈ કૃષ્ણને ન કહેવા યોગ્ય વચન કહ્યાં. આ જોઈ શ્રીદામા ગુસ્સે થઈ ગયા ત્યારે રાધાજીએ શ્રીદામાને તુરંત શાપ આપી દીધો કે, “તું અસુર થઈ પૃથ્વી પર જઈશ.” શ્રીદામાએ પણ સામે રાધિકાને શાપ આપ્યો કે, “તમારે પણ પૃથ્વી પર સ્ત્રીદેહ ધરવો પડશે.” જેને લીધે શ્રીદામા પૃથ્વી પર ‘શંખચૂડ’ નામનો અસુર થયો. રાધિકા ગોકુલમાં વૃષભાનુ અને કલાવતીને ત્યાં રાધા તરીકે જન્મ્યાં. તેમનાં લગ્ન રાયણ નામના વૈશ્ય સાથે થયેલાં.
રાધિકાજીનાં બીજાં નામ રાધા, રાધાજી, વગેરે છે.

Once, in Golok, Krishna was spending time with Rādhikāji. After some time, Krishna left Rādhā and went to spend time with another gopi named Virajā. Rādhā became angry and followed them to Virajā’s palace. Rādhā said some undeserving words to Shridāmā, the guard, and insisted to let her in the palace. Hearing the argument, Krishna disappeared from there. Virajā transformed into a river. Later, Krishna went with Shridāmā to visit Rādhā. Rādhā became angry and said some unworthy words to Krishna. Shridāmā became furious, so Rādhā cursed him saying, “You will have to take birth on the earth as a demon.” Shridāmā cursed Rādhikāji in turn and said, “You will also have to take birth on the earth.” As a result, Shridāmā was born as the demon ‘Shankchud’ and Rādhikāji was born in Gokul as the daughter of Vrushbhānu and Kalāvati. She married a Vaishya named Rāyan.
Rādhā, Rādhāji, etc. are all names of Rādhikāji.
