Vachanamrut Essence

Panchālā-3

  1. One with intelligence:
  1. Realises all of his flaws and virtues, as well as the virtues and flaws of others, and maintaining an intense aversion towards his own flaws, he eradicates them.
  2. Accepts the advice of the Sant as beneficial to him.
  3. Even if he has a little [worldly] intelligence, his intelligence is useful in attaining liberation.
  1. One who lacks intelligence:
  1. Acknowledges his virtues but does not realise his drawbacks.
  2. He views himself as eminent like the Sanakādik, and he views other eminent people to be inferior to himself.
  3. His intelligence should be known as merely worldly and should be regarded as an utter fool.
  4. His worldly intelligence is not useful in attaining liberation.
  1. Love:
  1. Definition: that which is the cause of the perpetuation of the world, and that which causes bondage and the cycle of births and deaths – the māyā of God.
  2. If one’s mind remains steady, without harbouring doubts, then that type of love toward God is not māyā; but if one’s mind does not remain steady, then that type of love is māyā.
  3. One who is intelligent should love God in the following way:
  1. Develop love for God believing one’s self to be the ātmā.
  2. The indriyas and the antahkaran should be kept in a witness box and in chains in the form of the niyams of the five religious vows, and then they should be made to offer bhakti to God; but one should not perceive virtues in the indriyas and antahkaran, rather maintain enmity toward them.
  3. One should tempt the indriyas and the antahkaran with the bliss of God and divert them away from other vishays.
  1. Method of contemplating on the ātmā:
  1. Thought: “I am not the 24 elements; I am distinct from them; I am chaitanya; and I am a devotee of God.”
  2. Prayer: “O Mahārāj! The fault lies with the indriyas and antahkaran; I am distinct from them. In fact, they are my enemies. So, please protect me from their influence.”
